No wonder personal debt in this country is HUGE!!!

Sat Jun 09, 2012 11:42 am

When people can't accept that cutting outgoings from any business is a better way forward than to borrow and spend!!! Thankfully none of you are in charge of the country otherwise we'd be worse off than Greece!!!! but in all honestly it is worry the amount of people who have that mindset.

Sometimes people cannot cut outgoings. Is that too hard to understand?

Many many large institutions borrow money. Even the banks themselves.

well in this situation you can cut outgoings as in player wages. Maybe it would have been a good time to bring in a salary cap at the club.? Many clubs havew done that and even got promoted

Sorry but Parkin actually come in when the Malaysians were here!!! And anyway I would prefer to explore every avenue first before borrowing more money and a wage cap would have been a better move first before anything else.

yes i know and parkin has been put on loan a few times too take some of the wages off our bill. im sure the malaysians have/are exploring every option but once again this doesnt happen instantly and bills have to be paid in the mean time. they have finally come up with a solution and they are very very successful businessmen, im extremely excited for the next 5-10 years on this clubs potential.

So maybe the whole signing of Parkin was another case of bad financial managment from them. However cutting down on one of two players would save pennies compared to a wage cap across the board.

Blackpool, Norwich and Swansea are just 3 teams who have all got promoted when they've had a wage cap in place.

All of whom then had key players, staff leaving for more money.

The wages have historically been high, a fair few under contracts given out under the Ridsdale regime. Unsellable as no other team would pay the same wages. So it's been a case of either agree a termination fee - and players can easily just sit their contracts out - or pay them off in full. Hence we've 6-7 players who should be off fairly soon.

Lowering the wage bill isn't the only thing needing doing, you're addressing only one end of the problem. Income also needs to be increased, which from what I can see is being addressed.

Not at this level they didn't!!!

However I'm glad you are agreeing that the wage bill needs addressing because unless thats addressed then you can forget about everything else. Just wish others would understand that logic rather than using the ecomonics very similar to what Gordon Brown was guilty of and we all know what happened there.

25k a week for Kenny Miller. Cant blame PR for that one.

Shocking wage we cannot afford.

Especially when he isnt the man to fire us forward.

There's nothing to say the wage bill shouldn't grow; it's the ratio of wage bill to income that's the key issue. If the income increases a fair bit, then we can afford to increase the wage bill.

Excatly and many others including Earnshaws. Its just more wreckless financial management and unfortunately there is a long line of owners who have done similar things hense why we are swimming in so much debt in the first place.

I really cant believe you just said that after harping on for months the club should go into administration and cut their losses whilst owing lots of other businesses to go bust as well

Whats that got to do with it..? Administration is always my preferred option but as I keep saying that it will never happen because there are too many people who will lose money if that was the case. So if administraion isn't an option then surely you have to do the best with what you got to survive and I would prefer to make cuts rather than continue as we are and borrow more in a hope that we will get to the premier league.

haha yes it can be done, but what do you expect tan to have done when he arrived here, just go speak to the players and say you all need to have a wage cut . hed get laughed at. the only thing he could do was to try and get rid of deadwood which he has been doing by mutual termination , sales etc. Apart from miller and earnshaw there arnt many high high eaarners at the club no more, and yeas those two signings are high risks due to the wages but its wasnt like tan exactly told malky i want you to buy him. malky signed off on his wages aswell you know. This isnt footaball manager , you cant just sell your team and bring in a whole new team in for less wages, at most you make 4-5 changes a year in personell. we are cutting costs in wages and trying to generate more income by commercial means. And i dont know why people are acting like tan is wanting to loan the money to the club. if he didnt loan the money then where would it come from? hes hardly making money off the loan, and dont say intrest cos tht is f**k all, 7% for the amount loaned and with the credit rating and risk involved in the loan is nothing .

He did, along with many others mind to be fair, but had we brought these new players in and we hadn't got promoted then, he'd have accused the club of wasting money!
