My preference would have been for the Dragon holding up a flag with the Bluebird on it, as suggested by Welsh City Dragon.

You never know, as the years go by, the design may change, but whilst I can understand the angry reaction to the changes generally, what I can't understand is the extreme reaction of some to what's been put forward, as there's nothing that bad in them (and I'd feel that way if things hadn't gone my way, and you reversed the Dragon and the Bluebird).
