As above, just 1% of China being interested enough to buy a shirt is £400m a year. Add in Malaysia, Asia and the fact that VT will be marketing us as 'their' team and showing games live...it's a genius way around FFP.

I'm not happy about this, just trying to see the positives...and there are HUGE positives.

We have seen a few clubs with rich owners who are not throwing money away for fun such as Aston Villa, really struggle to break the top 4/6 of the PL. A similar owner for Cardiff would only get us so far.

VT knows the Asian market because he is only doing this because he will make the club a fortune in turnover from it. Now, what is coming in soon...Financial Fair Play. Clubs can only spend a % of turnover. So sugar daddys are out! But if we increase our turnover, and we will if we become adopted as the official PL club of Asia, we could be an incredible club!

QPR are selling shirts out there just by being owned by a Malaysian. We will be owned, sponsored and have our culture fushioned with them. VT will surely use his TV channel to make all our games live out there.

This idea has huge potential and we must remember that in this difficult time.

QPR sold 136 kits in Malaysia in the last 12 months. Do the maths on that genius.
Manchester United made justa couple of million and we will never be as big as them.
We are red temporarily because the Malaysian Arthur Daley doesn't like blue or our club.
He divided the fans. I will never forgive him for that.
He lied about us playing in blue too according to his statement.

Have you got evidence of those figures? That might just be the blue kit! Even so, first season as a PL club and they are already entering the market and as they become more known they will sell more. Cardiff aim to be the official Asian PL club and will be much higher in the league than QPR are.

VT or fans? I know whose opinion & knowledge I trust.

You mean the away kit????????? Did QPR Rebrand??????????

And what colour do QPR play in?????????????

The red away kit is the only shirt they have been selling in Malaysia and it's gone down well by all accounts.

1% wouldn't buy Man United shirts. Why would they buy Cardiff shirts?

Our owners net is worth just under 1 Billion (800 Million I think) and Real Madrid's owners net is most probably worth 10-20 Billion

China's population is 1 billion. If we appeal to just 1% of the country (1 in 100) then we could make £400m in shirt revenue a year. That's without considering Malaysia and the rest of Asia.

What is Welsh for Los Galactico's?

And the flaw in your argument is don't you think Man U/L'pool,Arsenal et al would have done this 20 years ago

As for TV, you are contracted into Sky (or whoever wins the next round of rights), you can't just do your own thing

Because we're positioning ourselves as THEIR team. That's what the statment means when it talks about the 'fusion of cultures'.

They already are!! and making lots of money on the back of their strong brands. Cardiff haven't got a strong enough brand to go out there, now we have.

EDIT: Sky is only for this country. Foreign countries have their own services. Asia will have it's own providers and it's not as exclusive as it is in Britain.

First off a large chunk of the money that's comes in from selling a shirt will go the manufacturer aswell as the shop it is being sold in so no we would not be getting £400 million

Re: We can be as big as Real Madrid

Then you got to think how many you are going to sell not really 10 million shirts you must be dreaming we are in the championship for christs sake

They lied about transfers and lied about the rebranding, got it yet????????

They lied about transfers! - what both the Malaysians and Malkay - thats slander hope you have the proof to back it up or deep pockets

They lied about the rebranding! - they agreed to stay blue on the basis that they believed the majority were against it only to find out it was the minority. They have made a statement today stating that having listened to what the fans want so they are now going ahead with the rebranding. They should be ashamed of themselves listening to what the majority of fans want :?

If its as simple as that how come Liverpool and Arsenal are not competing with the likes of Real Madrid?

2 clubs with a more decorated history and brand than Cardiff City FC?

Doesn't affect it much. Could be more than 10 million if we really hit it off and become Asia's PL football team :ayatollah:

Liverpool - 2005 CL winners, 2007 CL runners-up. Hammered Real 5-0 over 2 legs in 2009. Snapped up Luis Suarez under many big clubs noses, inc. Real. Going through hard times due to dodgy ownership (ironic), starting road back up.

Arsenal - 2006 CL runners up (knocking Real out in process), CL qualifiers last 14/15 seasons. Wenger doesn't really compete in large transfer markets anymore due to preference of bringing through youth. Still linked with players such as Goetze who Real would like dearly I'm sure!

Real - No CL final place since 2002.

By marketing ourselves as their club, a fusion of Welsh & Asian values..who you going to trust..CCFC season ticket holders or VT who has already become almost a billionaire from the Asian market?

We would market ourselves as that in Asia but we would always be Cardiff City FC, Best Team in Wales with the most passionate fans in football. We would just be getting a lovely sum of turnover from merchandise in other countries as a result of changing to red kits and emphasising the dragon.

CCFC season ticket holders thanks.... as why would I want to trust a man who has made millions on the back of a country run as a dictatorship, and yes I know it is now based on a constitutional monarchy and is no longer a communist state, but anyone who knows anything about Malaysia knows that to claim it to be democratic would be laughable.... The rumours to come out of Malaysia have been quite clear in how VT has made his money, and it is not on the back of fair trade that's for sure....

Whens the last time Liverpool got in the Champions league? Nevermind win their league (22 years and counting)?

Whens the last time Arsenal won a trophy? Cannot hold onto their best players.

I don't want to have a go at anyone on here but gulible is the only word that springs to mind

As an aside there was a picture doing the rounds a couple of weeks ago with two Swansea guys and about 20 guys from Bangkok all in Swansea kit, (insert ladyboy joke here) when you looked closer, they were not made by Adidas and cost $2 dollars each to make, Swansea didn't make a bean (other than publicity).

As for TV, yes Sky sell rights to Asia but Cardiff City can't, its not theirs to sell, otherwise Manchester United would have done it when Giggs was a lad. Get real
