Can someone explain?

Last week the rebranding plans were leaked. A meeting took place at the stadium between the club and fans groups. We were told of the proposal to change the kit and about the introduction of the dragon.The message being relayed from this meeting to fans was that there was going to be no consultation about these plans and that we risked losing the Malaysian investment if we opposed them.

The question I have is: Did the Malaysians initially make such statements or was it a case that the Malaysians intentions were misinterpreted by our club officials who then gave this impression in the meeting to the fans groups.
