To go from the dream of finally recognising a local legend here all the way back on November 15th 2007:

to this:

and now to today's announcement is absolutely flabbergasting.
Couple of very important points to remember however.
Firstly, a huge get well wish from myself, David Craig and Phil Nifield of the Statue Committee to the other member Graham Keenor, who you may or may not know is Fred's nephew and has been very unwell over the past couple of weeks inlcuding a spell in hospital where he is at the current time. Hopefully this positive news will give him the lift he needs to recover and be fighting fit for the unveiling.
Lastly, the Fund Raising Committee would just like to remind everyone that we still need donations to cover any unexpected costs in the final production stage / logistics / planning / plaque on plinth etc, so people are still welcome to organise their own events / car boot sales etc. We're obviously still only volunteers at the end of the day, and have not done this before, so the four of us would like to cover anything unexpected to avoid any last minute hitches. Any surplus of funds, will be put towards some sort of legacy benefitting the community, and one such idea is an annual 'Fred Keenor' football tournament for kids.
Onwards and upwards, and let's hope this positive news rolls on into more positive news from the club's board tonight. You honestly couldn't have planned the timing of this!!!
Thanks again to everyone who donated, organised events and / or volunteered their own time

Well done, Arfur and I've just seen the statue on BBC Wales Today. Quality.
