Off topic - Legal advice re sale of house

Wed Apr 25, 2012 2:04 pm

We are in the middle of selling our house and have been advised by our estate agent to find a solicitor to manage the sale for us.
We are not buying another property as my parents have given us their house as an inhertance so we will be mortgage free.
Do we still need to use a solicitor to handle the sale or should it be straight forward?

i would use a solicitor mate... the buyer will prob be using one and will have the most fees, however the buyers solicitor will request pre contract enquiries covering a multitude of your property matters... for the sake of a couple of quid it wont be worth all the hassle..

If dont get a Solicitor you will be taken for a ride, Simples, unless your a solicitor you will struggle to get anything done

We used Malloy and Barry solicitors when we completed on a flat this year, and it took six weeks to complete, it will take longer without a solicitor to liaise on your behalf....

A solicitor who specialises in property conveyancing and will quote you the price for the work up front - Richards Thomas in Ferndale and Mountain Ash have been good for me and my family, and very reasonably priced.

Doing it on your own is a nightmare unless you are professionally qualified - it is a mistake to think it is a saving.
