5th Best Supported Club ..

Sun Apr 22, 2012 8:40 pm

In the Championship based on Home fans only ( not sure of the average away attendance at home ) in an overall average of 22,100. -ts actually officially a little higher if the Watford crowd was not incorrectly announced.

This season has only seen a small reduction on home attendances compared to last year.

At an estimate i'd guess the average away attendance at CCS in the league is around 400-600. Teams like BHA, Saints, Leeds, West Ham are the only reason it is that high.
When we had those 3 home games in a week the highest away attendance was about 300. Teams like Barnsley, Donny, Peterborough, Burnley, Millwall, HULL and DERBY should be ashames to only bring 200-300. Especially Derby as it's not even that long of a trip

But last season the attendances were higher because of the stars we had and we were expected to go up automatically. Away fans even turned up more often

Joff, Weve certainly come along way since our crowds of 1,500-4,000 every week. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

West Ham 30738
Derby 25960
Southampton 26149
Leeds 23175
Cardiff 22097

Leicester 6th 22028

followed closely by Forest then Brighton.

Amazing to see our name amongst those very big clubs.

Wouldnt have beleived we'd get bigger crowds than Leicester and Forest a few years ago.

If you take off the difference in away fans who go to Leeds and what come to us you might find there is very little difference in terms of pure home fan nos between us..

Burnley, Hull, Doncaster, Middlesborough, Barnsley would all have taken loads to Leeds, probablt Forest, Leicester and Derby too. I doubt 5 clubs have brought over 1000 here, and maybe only a couple over 1500.

Hard not to be impressed by Derbys attendance.

Excellent from us also :ayatollah:

Fair play Derby have always been a well supported club,

i reckon we can't be far off being in the top 20 home supported clubs in all the leagues as i can think of at least 3/4 premiership teams that we have a higher home average attendance......Qpr,Swans and Wigan to start with and maybe Blackburn and Bolton? :ayatollah:

But thinking about it both Sheffield clubs are also very well supported when doing well!

In reference to Derby's crowds, whilst they are very good, they are gradually on the declince, mainly due to two factors:-

When they were a Premiership club, fans brought into the concept of auto renewal season tickets ( similar to our own Premier club - wthout the hospitality) which is now coming to an end. They have been in decline in recent times.

Our crowds are more remarkable as lets not forget, we have not been in the top flight for 51 years. Most clubs have outshone us in terms of success by a huge margin.

Another factor with our crowds is that Cardiff is a growing city in terms of population, media and its even an Olympic venue.

I really think we could get 40,000 on a regular basis if a sustained Premier league place was secured.

Need also remember we have hardly had a 3pm Saturday KO this year.
That effects away supporters numbers.

And pisses me off.

So does that fuckin drum.

Derby sell a really cheap season ticket, and there is a massive discount if you take a phone contract out with their sponsor. They will have even more who don't turn up than we do

Still great support considering its not a big city and they have plenty of other clubs on their doorstop.
