‘KEEP calm and carry on supporting Cardiff City’ – that is the message from boss Malky Mackay as the Championship season enters its final month.

Despite a recent dip in form, the Bluebirds remain just two points outside the play-off places with six games to go.

The first of these will be a tough trip to promotion rivals Middlesbrough on Saturday and supporters’ nerves will now be on edge as the finishing line comes into view.

And Mackay has urged Bluebirds’ fans to keep the faith, just as they have done throughout his excellent first campaign in charge.


“Stay calm and keep supporting us,” said Mackay, pictured,.

“The fans have been truly fantastic to us this season.

“From day one at West Ham our fans were just incredible at that huge stadium.

“I remember the evening we played Southampton, too, that night the atmosphere was crackling and, well, what about Wembley?

“It’s amazing when the fans are going completely nuts and just singing and singing. It gives us such a lift.

“Even the games recently when things have not gone so well at home they are still singing at the end and clapping the players off.

“You can have nothing but total respect for that.”

Mackay’s men have exceeded all expectations this season as they have pushed throughout at the top end of the table and still remain in the hunt for a play-off place.

And he vowed there would be no let-up in the final month, adding: “We will be doing everything we can in these last six games.

“We will give everything we have got to try and get into the play-offs.

“I can assure everyone of that. Whatever we might be lacking, we will not be lacking for effort, I can promise you that.”

Spot on Malky As for you Hornets Fan I'm really looking forward to our game too. Even though we beat you at home last season, still don't feel that we have made up for that 4-1 at Vicarage Road on Boxing Day 2010. That was a real hiding.

a couple of days ago i couldnt wait for the season to end, but deep down i know ill be really pissed off with no football for months! i suppose we have euro 2012 to watch and order our french, swedish and ukraine football shirts

i honestly believe though that looking at the remaining fixtures 3 wins and maybe 2 draws will be enough for 5th or 6th place. one thing though, we need to start scoring as our goal difference is lower than some around us.
