Teams That Get Out of This Division

Mon Apr 02, 2012 2:57 pm

The teams that do get out of this division are teams which are attack minded and score plenty of goals and in particular late goals to kill teams off. Unfortunately we are not that type of team at the moment.

The likes of Norwich and QPR in particular last year. Norwich scored 23 goals in the last 15 minutes and QPR 20.
This season to date Birmingham have scored 21, Blackpool 25 and Reading 21 in the last 15 minutes. To date we have scored 10 goals in the last 15 minutes but have conceded 17. Perhaps we just switch off and sit back instead of trying to kill teams off.

It just seems that the teams who show the ambition and attack are the teams more likely to progress. Views?

I think its not a case of we switch off but more of a case of the players over exert themselves through the match to the point that in the later stages of the game they have nothing to give. The ammount of times we've seen players stretching mid way through the game due to cramping up this season has been unnerving

I initially thought that it could possibly be tiredness that we had the situation of conceding a lot more goals later on rather than scoring more but how do other teams manage? They must rotate and use fresh players. That being the case questions have to be asked of the manger as to why he has not done the same if there are signs of players cramping up.

We dont utilise our players as much as other teams, thats an obvious observation. But, we can't do anything about it if more than 3 players are struggling during the game. Take the cup final for example, we subbed Hudson who started to struggle, Kev who cramped up to the point he couldnt play on and the other substitution was purely tactical and paid off. I think it's that at the start of the season we seemed alot stronger and harder to get through where as now its closing in on the end of the season most players from most teams will be mentally and physically tired so it should in theory make teams easier to break down and it has kind of worked that way for us.
