MATCH FACTS Head-to-head • This is the 60th league clash between these clubs. Birmingham lead the head-to-head standings by 26 wins to 22.
• Kenny Miller scored the only goal in the reverse fixture in December, when Cardiff beat a 10-man Birmingham side, who had Curtis Davies sent off. It gives the Bluebirds the chance of a first double over the Brummies in 45 years.
• Birmingham have lost only two of their last 16 league matches against Cardiff, winning 11. They haven't lost at St Andrews to the Welsh club since a 2-1 reverse in the old Second Division in December 1966.
Birmingham City • Chris Hughton will be wanting a reaction from Tuesday's 4-1 defeat, away to bottom of the table Portsmouth, which left Birmingham immediately outside the play-offs.
• It was their third defeat in six games, of which only one was won.
• The Brummies are the only club to have lost just one home match in this Championship campaign; Nottingham Forest being the only club to have taken three points away from St Andrews this term.
Cardiff City • Cardiff are equal on points with Birmingham, but with a vastly inferior goal difference, and just one win in seven.
• Since they qualified for the Carling Cup final, the Bluebirds have won two and lost five of 11 Championship games, having won six and lost one in the 11 prior to qualifying.
• If Malky Mackay's side claim a point, it will be the first time since January 2010 that Cardiff have drawn three successive league games. They have lost four on the road; no club has been beaten less often on their Championship travels this term.
