Just having a look at players out of contract in the summer, looking through there are huge names from the big clubs, , but looking more down bottom half premier league and championship clubs some big names who could do a job in the championship...

Casper Ankergren - Cover for marshall since Heaton is on his way out.
Vassell - Can score at this level.

What are all your thoughts on this?

Are they all journeymen who won't really make a significant difference, or am I being cynical?

If last summer is anything to go by you need to be looking younger, mid-20s looking at Taylor, Conway, Gunnarson, Gestede. Earnie and Cowie were the only older players brought in on freebies and both were special cases with their connections to the club and manager.

I would like to see the following with us :

I agree with you
think Vassell would be good cover as well as it seems Parkin is going in the summer with him being Loaned out everywhere so far this year

DEF - Chambers (forest) and Loovens available?
MID - McGugan, McCann (Burnley), Liegertwood, Anderson, Stock, Thomas (West Brom), Gomez, Buszaky, Andrews
STR - O'Connor and Elliott out of contract in scotland, McFadden, Lovenkrands, Fuller, Simeon Jackson, Jay Rodriguez, Barnes (Brighton)

I wouldn't mind Lloyd Sam, Ashley Barnes, Paul Anderson , Micheal Kightly or Butterfield here would all make good addition to the squads imo, but i thought McKenna signed for Hull permanently on a two year deal in the summer ??

has i have said before what we dont want is lots more young up and comeing players if we do we will not be in any better position than we are this season! we def need is a proven striker to supplement or join kenny up front! as that is our main failing this year having inexperienced backup/partner for kenny (dont say ernie ffs) but going on malkies history ect dont think we will get one so not that optimistic next season but will still be there!

jackson would be a dream, proper pace and a goal scorer. dare i say it a bit like earnie in his younger days!
