To the guys that started that new chant in the canton stand

Thu Mar 22, 2012 3:38 pm

Absolute legends. None stop throughout the majority of the match despite no one really joining in. It eventually picked up a few more voices towards the end. Was a breath of fresh air instead of that depressing 3 little birds, or the oooo uhhh ah ah [clap clap] pathetic men of harlech attempt. If you don't know what im on about, its this chant;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=io2PDt7OCDw
It starts around the 28second mark. Lets have more Turkish style chants down CCS.

I heard it
followed by me thinking hmm this is catchy I'll hum it for a bit
followed by my full scale singing bouncing and scarf waving (well not quite) but I did end up joining in.

Did you see the arguments it caused between the younger boys in row JJ (around seat 560ish) next to aisle at the back and the bunch of boys who are directly below the drum at the back? f*cking hilarious, the boys who are under the drum took offence to the chant because it's 'continental' and started abusing all the younger boys who was trying to get it going by us.

I'm in the middle of both groups and I can honestly say I've never seen anything like it in all my years following the City...if it went on any further there would've been a 15/20 man brawl at the back of the Canton, i was pissing myself

yeah I loved the way they kept that chant going, and it wasnt bad either! Good effort from all of them! I wish it had caught on more as its better than some of the boring chants we have in our locker!

Thanks for posting that clip mate. Last night I couldn't stop singing it but this morning I couldn't bloody remember the tune. Breath of fresh air to hear something different from the usual stuff. I couldn't understand why it took so long for it to catch on with the rest of the Canton but fair play to the small group of lads who started it they never gave up and eventually a lot more joined in. It's the sort of chant that we could keep going for 20 minutes at a time and would be amazing if everyone joined in and swirled scarves around at the same time. Well done boys :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I could hear it just about, I was trying to work out what the song was as I sit by the away fans in the Ninian. Looked like the lads who were singing it enjoyed it as there were a few scarfs waving around. Good effort. :ayatollah:

Love it!

And while we're on the subject of new/continental chants...

The drummer should learn this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7Inv49Ghr8&noredirect=1
Would be amazing in the Canton end.
Loads of teams do it now but it dont work with small teams like these:

Swansea make it sound so boring and I'm not just saying that cause they're Jacks
We should get that going as well, especially now that we have a drum.

I will admit they clap to it well and on time.

One thing I notice about the video though. Look at those empty seats. In a play-off semi final

If it was you who started it, absolute credit to you. We need more international chants, especially ones you can bounce to. Like someone posted above me, try and get this one started too with the bouncing ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7Inv49Ghr8&noredirect=1

Also f**k the haters at the top of 105/6 that refused to join in and stuck to their uuuuhhh oooohh ah ah [clap clap] chants. Keep up the brilliant work lads, just wish I was at the back with the passionate guys, not lower down with the boring bunch lol

All we need is a handful of people at the back to start it off and stick at it, eventually it'll ripple down to the boring bunch afraid of new songs and chants. We definitely need more bouncing chants, although be a bit hard with the boring bunch sitting down lmao.

Fair play to you and your mates you gave it a right go even though you were on your own for a long time. I loved it straight away and hope that it catches on at every City game......home and away. Feel free to introduce some more new stuff too. A lot of the continental singing and chanting is excellent. The bouncing is great and the scarf waving, We need a lot more colour and noise at our games if we are to improve the whole matchday experience. If you've got a small group of like-minded fans you can get loads of ideas from youtube for european style chants and songs. Go for it boys. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
