More excuses being lined up. All this parachute payments give teams an unfair advantage is just nonsense in my opinion. It's an advantage to a well run club like West Brom but look at how many clubs have come down, with their parachute payments, and doen nothing at all

Nottage Blue, you have hit the nail on the head. I think parachute payments are needed to prevent clubs from going out of business or entering financial trouble plus it's still another reward for getting to the Premiership in the first place.

The solution is simple Jonesy, get us up. It's not hard! You seem to manage to get us into the top two often enough so do it at the right time and bang! Football's an easy game!

Parachute payments mean that teams like West brom and Birmingham City can constantly bounce back after relegation.

Do you think the top 2 would be the same without them ?

It also means that promoted sides can live beyond their means. It gives certain teams unfair advantage and only in the last couple of seasons with Stoke, Burnley and Hull have teams been able to break free of the same sides bouncing up and down each year.

And thats the big worry for me now, those 3 will eventually come back down, but when they do they will now be strengthened and able to continue to pay big money for another couple of seasons.

But the thing is, they may not bounce back straight away. For every West Brom and Birmingham, there is a Watford, Palace, Barnsley, Southampton, Norwich, Charlton, etc, etc. The first 2 you mentioned look like well run clubs, but not all are and parachute payments can end up paying for previous bad regimes and spending sprees. I dn't think that these always work in the favour of the relegated clubs as much as some people worry about

£14m more than other clubs had to play with.

Thing is half of those clubs you mention just aren't top flight clubs, not enough support, the other half were run as if they never thought they could get relegated. Nearly all of them gambled the parachute payments away on the chance that they would go up. if they hadnt had them then they might have got their houses in order a bit quicker.

It isnt right that 6 teams can have an advantage every season over the others that they just don't deserve.
