" A 45 MILE WALK TO SAY THANK YOU "

Sun Jan 01, 2012 7:40 pm

This evening at 8.45pm Chris Rosser, Peter Renney, David Rosser, Jonathan Ace, John Wallace and Jackie Trick will start a 45 mile walk from Skewen to Cardiff, and in particular the Ninian Park Pub, to say thank you to the forum members and other Cardiff City fans who have donated so generously to the Aidan Rosser appeal. They have a support vehicle with them being driven by Steve Dobson, which is loaded up with all the necessary essentials to make sure the walk goes as smoothly as a 45 mile walk throughout the night could possibly go.

Anyone who has missed the story can read about the appeal and why so many have given what they can to help out this poor child and his family. http://aidanrosser.org.uk/

So far this forum has raised over £700 to help with equipment that Aidan needs, Maesteg Bluebirds had before the Watford game raised £164 plus were planning on raising more from the trips to Watford and Forest.

Vince Alm has also pledged that CCSC will be donating an amount to the appeal. Vince has even offered to drive the walkers back to Swansea after they attend the Reading game as guests of Cardiff City Football Club, thanks to Wayne Nash and Alan Whiteley.

I will be listing items for auction which include a CCFC framed signed shirt, courtesy of the club, a 2008 Cup Final squad signed City ball and a Cardiff Blues signed Matchday players shirt from this season, both of which were kindly donated by Mark Letman (keyser soze) and a City fan Carl Jenkins from Resolven contacted me on Facebook and kindly offered a Carig Conway signed match worn shirt (Leicester game) to be auctioned also. There is also a Wales Vs Scotland football signed by the entire Welsh team, these items will be available to bid on from the middle of this week.

Everybody who has given and got involved one way or another deserves a massive applause and as well as raising money through sponsorship for doing the walk the primary reason is for the Swansea fans to say 'Thank You' to the generous City faithful.

So much so that Chris Rosser and Reeco, who was instrumental in helping us achieve the Mikey Dye memorial match, have also bought between them a double brick to be placed on City Walk, the hope is that the brick will be there ready to view before tomorrow's game. I am proud to have helped and I am overwhelmed with the message that Chris and Reeco have had inscribed on the Brick. I am truly humbled.

Good luck to those walking through the night and I am sure there will be many City fans there to welcome you from Midday tomorrow at the Ninian Park Pub. Unfortunately Reeco has fallen ill and desperately feeling down that he is unable to do the walk after all the hard training he has put in to do the walk, Reeco, you have done a phenomenal amount of fundraising throughout this appeal and I know if there was just a 5 percent chance of you doing this walk, you would.

Can I just wish the team who is walking tonight good luck. I sincerely wish I could be with you but due to my being ill, I cannot. Can I thank John Wallace for stepping in as a last minute substitute. I will be keeping an eye on your progress for as long as I can tonight. I can say the welcome you will get at The Ninian Park Pub from Annis, Carl, other CCFC forum members and fans from Cardiff City FC will be Top Draw.
I have given it some serious thought about whether to turn up tomorrow just to say thank you but if I past on the virus I have had since Xmas Eve and still got I would feel terrible especially if it goes to a young un or somebody's wife. I know you will all understand.
Can I say a massive thank you Annis, Carl, CCFC forum members, Maesteg Bluebirds and other Cardiff City Fans for the kindness and support they have shown Aidan Rosser and his family.
To say I am gutted I cannot do the walk is an understatement but even someone as stubborn as myself appreciates it's health before most things. ATB. Reeco

I have just read what the brick reads again, I hadn't seen it the writing, since about a month ago, it brings a lump to my throat.

When you buy a double brick, you only have 16 characters on 4 lines and it was really hard to come up with the wording but thanks to Chris, my Wife Claire and myself we actually got the wording spot on.

Annis and Carl, Chris, Aidan and family and myself, hope you like the brick idea, as it was the best way Chris, Aidan, the family and myself thought we could even begin to thank you.

Annis and Carl you are really nice fellas and I am proud to know you both. ATB. Reeco

Annis, I did ring you as promised today but your moby kept on ringing and ringing, even now, I am thinking about just going but I know that would be totally stupid of me.

We will have to have that glass of Pepsi when play against the good people from this board to commemorate Mikey D RIP. ATB. Reeco

Its been a pleasure getting to know you Reeco and I will be looking forward to that meal we all promised each other in the new year.

You did wonders for Mikey Dye's family and I promise you that will never be forgotten. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Annis, Thank you very much Mate. I spoke to Carl earlier on and to see Chrissy Dye speak with so much passion about the stupidity between the two clubs stopping, was like a breath of fresh air.

I shall look forward to that meal Mate with you, Carl, Gary, myself and the Diamonds we have that have our backs 24/7. ATB. Reeco

Reeco.
Rivalry has been put aside big time between us and are arch rivals Swansea for two great causes Mike Dye's family and now Aidan Rossers's family from Swansea, to me this means a lot and shows there are still a lot of good people out there. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Please Cardiff fans turn up at the Ninian Park Pub tomorrow and give the family a big welcome. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Carl and Annis, I know theres maybe not a right time to say this so I'm saying it now. You really are genuine fellas. You should be very proud of what you've done for this little lad, and all the crap that has been written about you on "our" website, and all the snidey little links some have put up trying to paint a bad picture of you, well. You have just rammed it down their pathetic throats! It hasn't gone unnoticed by people who matter that not one link from this has been posted there? I will say this, I will NEVER post on that site again. It's becoming like a rat infested sewer run by people who have no inclination to do anything about it! Hey I might even get a link put up with this post!

Well done! :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Neath Bluebird, WOW Mate, what a wonderful gesture from one footy fan to another. I would love to take you up on that offer Mate and I could be dropped off at the nearest place by my Wife but I would be really gutted if I passed the throat, chest and head cold to a young un or to somebodies Wife or partner. I would give my right arm to be at The Ninian to welcome them in and just to say thank you but if I am there am I being irresponsible.

Once again TYVM mate. If there is anything I can ever do for you no matter what ask and consider it done. ATB. Reeco
