" JANUARY - PIVOTAL MONTH? "

Could January be a pivotal month?

We have seven confirmed fixtures in January :

Mon 2 15:00 H Reading FLC
Sat 7 15:00 A WBA FACP
Tue 10 20:00 A Crystal Palace LGCP
Sat 14 15:00 A Doncaster FLC
Sat 21 15:00 H Portsmouth FLC
Tue 24 19:45 H Crystal Palace LGCP
Tue 31 19:45 A Southampton FLC

But if we draw against WBA and then beat them in the replay we would have 9 games to play then the fixtures will read :

Mon 2 15:00 H Reading FLC
Sat 7 15:00 A WBA FACP
Tue 10 20:00 A Crystal Palace LGCP
Sat 14 15:00 A Doncaster FLC
Tue 17 19.45 H WBA FACP
Sat 21 15:00 H Portsmouth FLC
Tue 24 19:45 H Crystal Palace LGCP
Sat 28 15.00 ? ?????????? FACP
Tue 31 19:45 A Southampton FLC

Will the cup games hamper our league progress?

To me every month is pivotal throughout the footballing season, having said that i do see where your coming from with regards to the number of games. :ayatollah:

Weve been saying all season we need 3 or 4 new players to complete the squad, Malkay has been quoted as saying he is looking to sign 3 in January so hopefully we will get our wish. :ayatollah:

I believe the FA cup is the only competition which could really effect us, when we play WBA, the players will have 2 full days to recover before we play Palace. If we draw against WBA, the extra games would add an extra burden on the players, regardless if we bring in 2-3 players, the travelling will truely effect the team.

In my opinion I stick a second team against WBA comprising players with the likes of Keinan, Quinn, Wildig, Parkin etc.

But I guess most people on here are greedy, and want to potentially goto Wembley 3 times this year :D

I think we should seriously consider making Wembley our home ground the amount of time we spend there :D

Never thought i'd say this, but i hope we lose to West Brom. At least the player's will have a break in between the Palace home leg and the equally crucial Southampton game.

Focus on league & League Cup. Use fringe players for the FA Cup if we progress shows we have depth to call on.

I'm more for taking it one month at a time. 12 points on offer first.

I believe he should play an absolute 2nd 11 for the FA cup. We haven't got the squad to be in real contention on 3 fronts, it would be mentally and physically draining on our players, especially those who we rely on to be consistent each game like shirts miller turner.

Beat WBA, then get man city at home I'd be happy with that

A few extra players and we should have a squad capable of challenging on all fronts.

Malky Mackay is not the type of manager that would happily let his team put in an weak effort in ANY match or competition.

Heaton/Santiago

Naylor Blake Gerrard Quinn
Ralls Kiss Cowie Farah
Earnie Jarvis

Go for a bland 4-4-2, thats the weakest side i could think of. I included Cowie because of his Stamina because he played Carling Cup games! :ayatollah:

How could you put Cowie rather than Taiwo?

Taiwo deserves a chance to prove how bad he is to us once again!

Have to agree there, Malky sends a team out that he considers will do a job, only have to look at the carling cup that he has utilised the squad to it's full but he demands effort & commitment.

I reckon we need 3 players, a forward, 2 wide players to sustain a promotion bid

Apparently he has been playing really well in any reserve team matches :ayatollah:

Yet when he came on against Southampton for 5 minutes he almost lost us the match.
