also remmember seeing I think it was his 1st game for city against fulham on boxing day 1976 over 20,000 [a big crowd in those days] turned up hoping to see george best play which he didn,t sir robin friday scored 2 great goals and george who was the question by the final whistle we won 3-0.
for those 2 young to have seen him he was a one off genius hence his picture still up at the new ground

Probably the most talented player I've ever seen in a City shirt, shame all his other demons got in the way.

The book about him ("The Greatest Player You Never Saw" of something like that ) was brilliant. Contained a quote from Clive Thomas the top referee of that era stating that Friday scored the greatest goal he ever saw whilst with Reading.
