also remmember seeing I think it was his 1st game for city against fulham on boxing day 1976 over 20,000 [a big crowd in those days] turned up hoping to see george best play which he didn,t sir robin friday scored 2 great goals and george who was the question by the final whistle we won 3-0.
for those 2 young to have seen him he was a one off genius hence his picture still up at the new ground

Probably the most talented player I've ever seen in a City shirt, shame all his other demons got in the way.

The book about him ("The Greatest Player You Never Saw" of something like that :? ) was brilliant. Contained a quote from Clive Thomas the top referee of that era stating that Friday scored the greatest goal he ever saw whilst with Reading.

Great player and character, the like of which we will never see again :cry:

Isn't it true that Bobby Charlton said he was the greates tplayer he ever played against?
