VICTORY IN SWANSEA DAY

Wed Nov 16, 2011 6:50 pm

Today is another remembrance day. 16.11.91. Twenty years ago today, the finest terrace soldiers that Cardiff have ever had, defeated the evil and scruffy forces of the Swansea Jack battalions. The locals were hit with so many pincer movements they tragically lost track of what day it was. There will be a 2 minute silence at 6pm on every corner of The Kingsway, Swansea in remembrance of those gallant tramps who lost their reputations. Never forget VS day(Victory in Swansea) :ayatollah:

Well done brave boys, you must all be so proud.

By the way, 2-1 Jimmy Gilligan sliding on his knees to the North Bank after scoring the winner.

You got seen off all day. End of story, but we dont have songs about it. Your
not that important.

Yet a mob of yours chase a handful of Cardiff into the water and your
whole world resolves around it

It was the atmosphere created by 'people like us' that saw Cardiff City defeat
Premiership leaders Leeds at Ninian Park.

If we were a lowly division side playing a Premiership giant in the CCS we would
get beat 8-0

...oh and no arrests that day against Leeds, just passionate, vociferous fans that
shit half the Leeds team up

Great post mate! And spot on pridey boy! And you taffy apple mate. Gimme those days back anyday! Hate the new breed of "fan" who doesn't like talking bout hooliganism. It was all that talk which got me into football in the first place! Ccs is shit. Crap atmosphere. Family club of the year... Feck off!

Ahh Yes. What a day. V J day.
Remember it well - will have to put the date in my calender! Perhaps we can lay a wreath for the Jacks on the 25th annivesary, instead of wearing a poppy for this one we could wear a stingy nettle as they got stung!!!!

We should counter the swim away bollox - maybe a banner with 91 plus a song......

Those were the days my son,
Back then in 91
We battered Jacks
And ran them everywhere.
We fought into the night
Were fukin dynamite
We lost 2 1, but did we fuckin care
La La La... La. La. La.

No You Tube footage of the Cardiff mob that day cos they hadnt invented
widescreen back then, and we filled the screen, filled your streets... and
would have filled the North Bank if the coppers hadnt sussed us all out

Fella, was around all day,and you didn't do much if you realy honest, allso was on the kingsway when you say you were rampant? Did run a small mob of jacks, but if you call that a victory then sory mate you are easily pleased, and yes you had several hundred ther, but let's not forget it was train special, all heading back to the station, and alltho you had lads at the front, the middle to the back were every day folk, even young girls ther,my self and a mate were walking among them.so please let's not get taken back by it as like I said the only real time two decent mobs met was when you were layed out on the road all over middle high st,,ps,if a special from swansea were left to walk around cardiff 800,I believe the specials took, then a lot more problems would happen,at the end of the day the ob let you make your own way ther as they were more concerned about us down the sandfields and mumbles rd,,

S69, in fairness I think your recollection of the day is wholly innacurate. The two mobs Cardiff took around the town did not contain any non combatants. They were not escorts being taken back to the train. The buses were there to take everyone back to the station as was the norm but the word was passed around to swerve them by telling ob that you had driven up. The buses contained the law abiders and you attacked them. There were numerous skirmishes that day as we walked around your town (not simply back to the train) as groups of jacks tried in vain to defend their patch but quite simply no-one would have touched Cardiff that day (no shame to you). I'm not entirely where this main mob of yours was anyway as when we marched up Oystermouth Road it was nowhere to be seen.

Anyway, its a long time past and I suppose at your age the memory fades......

I think us jacks have to be honest with ourselves here and admit we were totally stuffed that day due to sheer numbers. Yes we had our moments because in fairness we were a game bunch in those days and always formidable at home. But sometimes you have to hold your hands up and say fair play you did us. In fairness to the cardiff lads they do, ie: the time they came around the back of the North Bank to have us on the way out only to end up being kicked and chased all the way to high st station Many of them give us credit for that why cant we do the same? Sometimes you win sometimes you lose that was the name of the game!

Got to call it as it is sir. I can pride myself on the fact I've never turned my back on a Cardiff fan..........Though I have paid for it on occasions! Likewise I remember an incident outside the guildhall one Easter Monday when we caught a mob of you totally unawares, no police 300 of us 50 of you. Unfortunately one guy stayed, I was in the front and did what had to be done, but I made sure sure no one else touched him. Top respect to that guy whoever he was! :ayatollah:

It's like the land that time forgot on here sometimes

It was only very recently that you lost one of your own through an act of violence yet here you are , unsurprisingly reminiscing about "the good old days" when hooliganism was abundant and revelling in it.

Take a f*cking look at yourselves is it. It's not the 70's/80's/90's any more, no matter how many books are written about it.
