" IT WAS JUST LIKE "

Wed Oct 19, 2011 9:49 am

It was just like the old days last at Peterborough, 350 City fans travelled the long journey. Met up in the Cherry Tree Pub, no police, no one escorting us to the ground,no problems walking to the ground, once in, seeing all the old faces and new faces coming through the ranks to follow our club.

From the first minute the atmosphere was fantastic from both sets of fans and with a crowd of only 6,000 fans. All the players acknowledging us as soon as they ran on to the pitch.
The match had everything, fight/spirit/passion and goals galore and atmosphere for 90 mins :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Then i thought about it, yes it was like the old days playing another skint club and we look skint as well, we have a great manager/bunch of players but are just missing that bit extra, which of course costs money. If only we had just had that bit of extra class upfront, we would of taken the 3pts, sadly we never.

I will say it again back our manager now, not next year, he and we need it now or are we no different than the 80s and 90s ?

By the way I would rather have gone to PETERBOROUGH LAST NIGHT WITH 350 CITY FANS, THAN 5,000 GLORY HUNTERS TO SAY lIVERPOOL IN THE FACUP AWAY.
Roll on Burnley in the carling cup, boy do i LOVE THE NIGHT GAMES AND THE SMALL CROWDS.

EVERY PLAYER/SUBS INCLUDED AND MANAGEMENT THANKED US ALL LAST NIGHT FOR COMING :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

MALKY NEEDS SUPPORT NOW FREOM OUR BOARD, IVE BEEN SAYING IT FOR 2 MONTHS.

glad you enjoyed the night despite the result..

you are correct mate.. we all can see it... why cant the board?? we only need maybe 2 quality players to get us to january in a strong position in and around the play offs.. surely clubs are not hanging on to fringe players just to play 1 carling cup game...

i feel we havnt signed players not for this reason but for financial .. i.e. our contribution to the wages a team requires ... i think we were hoping get a player on loan with the parent club covering the whole % of wages...

Yes it was a nice night, and it was a bit like the old days.

Re: IT WAS LIKE

Agree it was cracking night with the exception of the result.

As you said Annis just like the old days all those dark places I have been to Mansfield, Chesterfield, Orient, Brentford, Cambridge (the 8 man outing) Great atmosphere with like minded city fans.

Fair play to Pboro that fecking drum got them going only my headache has subsided. I thought they created a cracking atmosphere but we did well also.

Onwards and Upwards hopefully. Bring on the barnsley

Agree Annis , or at least a statement from the board explaining why they are not investing in those extra players .

Why are they saying they will invest in January we could be 20 points off by then !!

750k for Turner, 880k for Miller, 250k for Mason. Signing on fees and wages for the rest of the signings. He has been backed. I would argue he has misspent the money a bit.

Hmm, interesting Neil, first of all I dont for one minute believe the figures of 750k and 880k, I believe it was more like 500k and 350k incl signing on fees and the Mason one is over 3 years.

Still been backed mate. Big turnaround of our squad this year. Was needed after last year's reliance on loans. We got a squad of about 24 haven't we? Many on here have said that we shouldn't spend too much and need some consolidation.

Neil, 2 months ago I felt it was not a strong enough squad to stay in the top 6, I made it known on here. TG said he wanted automatic promotion this season, well I am sorry there are miracles and miracles, but this one wont happen unless 3 or 4 more players are brought in. But as usual I always respect your posts Neil, just a difference of opinion this time :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I agree we would be hard pressed to go up this year mate but I think a year of consolidation and building within a budget is what we need. I worry for the future otherwise.

He has had support. He has a bigger squad and more money to spend than Brendan Rodgers had and he took the Jacks up.

Great night Thanks :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

3 or 4 I believe would virtually guarantee us a top 6 place this season, something is not right off the pitch in my opinion, boardroom level.
