Wrexham is not a city but has made an application to become a city and Bangor is a small city with a population of 10,000 (Approx)

Wrexham and Newport were competing to be Wales' newest city a couple of years ago. Think it was for the Queen's jubilee, and she could nominate one. Newport got it. Bangor is a Cathedral city. Bangor City Football Club play in the Welsh Premier League, and won it last season. Good club, founder members of the Conference, before joining the (then) League of Wales. Get decent crowds. Proper football club.
