IS WALES FOOTBALL ENTERING A NEW ERA ?

Mon Oct 10, 2011 12:07 pm

I think with the players mix of young and old Gary Speed has got a winning formula. Okayt two good results does not make a world class team , but i think he has got them going in the right direction and can only be good for the upcoming 2014 World Cup qualifiers . Okay we know we cannot qualify for the 2012 European Championships in Poland / Ukraine, but the more games we win against quality opposition the better our rankings will be . Lets be honest the FIFA rankings were a joke us being a low 117th in the world. We were always better than this but the style of football that was played under the Toshack era represented the place we was in the world. So i can see only good things coming for the Welsh football team , well done Gary Speed and the players involved :ayatollah:

Its all about getting the entire squad available at the same time coz 1 or 2 injuries and suspensions make it hard then for the players coming in if we lose Bale , Ramsey , Bellamy or Morison to name but 4 ...... being even more positive we can go above Northern Ireland this week and also if results also go to plan then above Scotland !! Happy days :D :D

Totally agree mate watching the game Friday can see how much better we've become since Speed took over, seem to be growing in confidence every game and totally outclassed Switzerland who are about 90-100 places higher than us in the rankings! Hopefully now with a bit of luck in the rankings we should stand a decent chance of grabbing a qualifying spot for Brazil!! :ayatollah:

I have only been into football for 20 odd years but I have seen enough false dawns of Welsh football. We shouldnt praise Gary Speed too much just yet, lets face it if he didnt pick up any points against Montenegro and Switzerland his job would have been on the line. We can still finish bottom as well as third

results and performances have improved and i feel the move away from milleni has helped. Legoland and libary have max attendences that most of squad are used to and comfortable playing infront of. At times having Championship and league 1 players playing in a stadium for 76000 was always hurting us.

Wales had never dominated England like they did in that second half. That was more of an accomplished performance than when we beat England 4-1 in the 70s.

False dawns are part of our history. I've just got a feeling this we might be waiting a lot longer this time for one.

Toshack did a lot of work bringing some of these players on. Brian Flynn did too, and lets not forget that Tosh it was who had the idea of continuity from U17 to U21. Gary Speed is doing OK, but he started with good foundations. He would probably be the first to credit Tosh and Flynny. We have had many false dawns, but lets hope for better times. The players obviously respest Gary Speed, who does'nt ?!! A few wins, and we'll get the crowds back. Best of luck to all in Bulgaria tomorrow. Full credit to the Wales fans who have made the trip. C'MON WALES !

I think we now have some World Class players again. I think Gary Speed
is doing a good job. But British Football is falling behind, on the whole
British footballers just arent technically as strong as those in other parts
of Europe. And Wales is a very small country, so we dont have a big
enough pool to choose from.

I watched something of the Kazakhstan Austria game courtesy of that dodgy 365 betting outfit. I was amazed about how far the players have come on in the last few years. Since the fall of the left wing socialist crap, some of the former soviet country's have thrown their Slave Rings into the ring.

We have started great under Speed, but I still don't think he's a very good manager. If we are still putting in performances like this in the next year or two I will be delighted as Speed would have turned it around, but don't get carried away with a few good wins, a new manager always turns form around initially but will we sustain this in the long run? We started great under Hughes and look what eventually happened, I agree there's every reason to be optimistic right now, but it's a bit early to suggest we are entering a new era of success just yet!

However its 3 games against teams who haven't got anything to play for. As previously stated I'm sick of the false dawns by Wales over the years and until wins can be made against teams in meaningful games then I refuse to join the Gary Speed supporters club.

Monetnegro and Switzerland both had plenty to play for?

I don't get all this stuff about 3 wins in a row :? Is it just me or did we beat Montenegro, lose to England before beating the Swiss and Bulgarians in consecutive matches, making it 2 in a row ?

Just checked the odds for the World Cup Qualifying Group A 2014..Must be worth a small bet on WALES ;)

To win Group A 100-1 and top 2 only 1 firm going 20-1 - we could get 33-1 ( imo ) when others price up ;)

Yup, I think people are either saying it by accident or just ignoring the engerland result.
