carlccfc wrote:Injuries to Craig Conway, Rob Earnshaw and Mark Hudson have forced Malky Mackay to search around for players on short term loan deals. Hudson and Conway have both rolled their ankles and are being assessed to see the extent of the injury. Earnshaw has a thigh strain and Rudy Gestede has a hamstring pull, as a result Malky is searching for a striker to come in on a short term basis whilst waiting for results from the scans.
Dekel Keinan is another who has an ankle injury and is a week away from being considered for selection.
The stories around about Federico Macheda joining City on loan are wide of the mark and he is not a player that is on Malky Mackay’s list of potential loan signings.
In a recent interview Malky made comments ahead of the Leicester league game regarding his envy at the riches Sven had to choose from.
“You look at the likes of Jermaine Beckford and some of the others they’ve brought in and it is nice to cherry-pick like that. But that’s the way it is,” said Mackay.
“It’s the size of the squad you would really like. If you were able to put that team out for the Carling Cup and then you’ve got all those fresh legs for the league match. We are not quite able to do that.
“Sven was able to put out a side which would be comfortable in the Championship and then put out his first XI in the league. That shows some real strength in depth.
“What’s coming in is as good as what’s going out. That’s something which over a 46-game period really helps you out.
“That’s when you would really see the benefit of doing what Sven has been able to do with his spending power.”
Malky needs backing during this loan window to add numbers and quality to the squad if we are to maintain our good start to the season.
Dave Jones is currently under a confidentiality agreement between himself and the club and until his contract is settled that agreement will remain in place. Dave Jones has asked his agent to put is name in the frame for available work, he has enjoyed the short break from football but is now ready to get back into it. This of course could prove to be good news for us as we would no longer have to pay DJ if he finds alternative employment.
The Malaysian ‘Beckham’ we had on trial with us recently, Safee Sali, is unlikely to be signing for City as work permits would prove to be a problem, Sali trained with City at the Vale for 2 weeks, he would train with the fitness coaches in the mornings and would join the rest of the squad towards the end of the training sessions.
Terry Burton is moving away from Newport after receiving his settlement from Cardiff, leaving on October 7th after selling his house, Burton was receiving £400k which included bonuses at City, as much as a nice bloke I am sure Terry is, that is a lot of money for an assistant to be on.
Peter Ridsdale, is currently receiving £25k per month at Plymouth and has a top of the range BMW as a company car, the administrators at Plymouth also pay £1800 per month as rent on the six bedroom property that Ridsdale currently occupies, Plymouth had been waiting for American investment that Ridsdale hoped would come in due to his contacts but failed to materialise, I understand that Ridsdale will remain at Plymouth for the next 3 months in a consultancy role.
Peter Ridsdale appears in court tomorrow over the Golden Ticket charge and without giving anything away, keep an eye for an announcement from lunchtime onwards tomorrow regarding the case.
When Ridsdale was in charge of affairs at City, we are all aware that Compass are the catering firm in charge of food outlets at CCS, what some may not know is that Compass paid Cardiff City £3.5million for a 10 year contract to take charge of the catering.
Also Compass pay City £30k per month royalties throughout the 10 year period, when the stadium was nearly finished the fit out within the Premier lounge was not completed and due to a lack of funds available, Ridsdale took a short term loan from Compass to overcome the shortfall, Compass never received the repayment on the agreed repayment date and this was overcome when the Malaysians came in and negotiated a deal to settle the outstanding amount. The deal that was offered and accepted was that Compass got an extra year on the contract, so therefore giving them 11 years as opposed to 10. This is another indication of how the Malaysian owners work, they offer deals not cash to settle outstanding debts to reduce the balance sheet.
The barrels of lager that are bought at CCS are currently being sold to the Liberty Stadium and Millennium stadium at £88 per barrel but the cost to Cardiff City is £135 per barrel, this is how the prices are so high at City in terms of lager costs, each pint I am informed costs Compass £1.87 before staff costs are taken into account. Compass are trying to recoup the outlay that they paid to the club for the contract.
Another deal that was agreed whilst Ridsdale was there, is that Heineken paid £1.5 million for a seven year contract at CCS. Heineken have also supported City with a £40K sponsorship package for this season.
Kevin Cooper is now living in Malaysia and working full time, along with one of Scott Young’s staff on the academy that has been set up in the Far East. I will update on the progress of that academy in due course to keep fans informed.
Vincent Tan has spoken with the headmaster of Westbourne School, Penarth about a placement for members of his family to attend the private school, a phone interview was held with the headmaster a few weeks ago.
