football manager 2009 HELP :(

i just bought this game of ebay and the activation code doesnt work any ideas?

ive tried pratically everything and error after error comes up :/

Sounds like Game is still registered on steam to previous owner.... Either play it out of the steam database or contact the previous owner and get him to deactivate the game..
