PRAYING FOR THE WELSH MINERS

Thu Sep 15, 2011 1:19 pm

Hoping all get out safely. :ayatollah:

SKY BREAKING NEWS

A major rescue operation is under way for four workers trapped some 300ft underground in a mine in Wales.
South Wales Police said officers, along with fire and ambulance crews, were called to the Gleision Colliery in Pontardawe, Swansea, after a colliery tunnel collapsed earlier.

Seven people were working inside the mine at the time of the accident.

One man was rescued by emergency services and taken to Morriston Hospital. His condition is not known.

Two other miners managed to free themselves before help arrived.

Rescue workers have reportedly not been able to make contact with the missing men.

A police spokesman said: "A rescue operation is underway. As you can imagine, it is quite a dynamic situation."

A Welsh Government spokesman said: "The First Minister is being kept fully aware of the incident and the ongoing multi-agency response.

"Clearly, at this stage, our thoughts are with the individuals involved, and their families at this very difficult time."

WE have world class rescue teams in Wales and hopefully they will get to these men as soon as possible, the small mines can be very dangerous places to work and it won't be an easy task...

Must admit they are brave lads. I wouldn't have the arsehole to be down them holes in the dark & no fresh air.

Good to hear you have top rescue teams in place. Here's hoping they will be back home soon :ayatollah:

Take a look at these hands Lord
They're worn and rough
My face scarred with coal marks
My language is tough
But you know in the heart Lord
Lies the soul of a man
Who toils at a living
That few men can stand
Theres sulphur and coal dust
And sweat on my brow
To live like a rich man
Id never learn how
But if youve got a corner
when my work is through
Id be mighty proud to live
Neighbours with you
Each dawn as i rise Lord
I know all to well
I face only one thing
A pit filled with hell
To scratch out a living
The vest that I can
But deep in this heart
Lies the soul of a man
With black covered faces
And hard calloused hands
we ride the dark tunnels
Our work to begin
To labour and toil
As we harvest the coal
We silently pray
Lord please harvest our souls
Just a corner in heaven
When ive grown too old
And my back it wont bend Lord
To shovel the coal
Lift me out of the pit Lord
Where the sun never shines
Cause it get mighty weary
Down there in the mine
But id rather be me Lord
Though no riches I show
Though tired and weary
Im just glad to know
When the great seal is broken
The pages will tell
That ive already spent
My time in hell.
