I would disagree that it's nothing to do with politicians but I would accept that as far as our Assembley Government is concerned there is little they can actually do.

But one thing they could do is make statement condemning the tabloid press coverage of the tragic incident, similar to the statement issued by the FSF posted by Corky yesterday.

However when our First Minister is not in the Country as he is off on a jolly at the Rugby World Cup what can you expect. I suspect you would see a different reaction from our political leaders if the tabloid press was attacking our rugby teams.

Maybe. Maybe it shows an 'it's not fair' attitude typical of little brother syndrome. I took no offence over comments that the event may have been 'all Welsh', but felt very upset for the family that the papers chose to label Mikey........which was vindictively insensitive towards the family. But I am not convinced the involvement of either local councillors, AM's or MP's actually add anything and probably prolong a side of the tragic happening that the family may wish to see closed.

And in my experience, any polititian (even local UKIP voices like Adam's) who pick up on others ctions or non actions, tend to be doing so for their own political capital.

As for FSF, Corky, Vince and their colleagues......fabulous association who genuinely offer real help and support, based on a real understanding of the plight of real supporters.

If the WAG had law making powers then this guy may well have a point because they could introduce legislation to curb the worst habits of the tabloid press, not having that power means in my opinion it is wrong to suggest that they have let the football community down.

But most people I have spoken to all agree that the tabloid coverage of this story is a disgrace so why not make a public statement of condemnation together of course with a statement of support for the victims family. In my opinion the very fact the tabloids have painted Mikey Dye a hooligan has got our politicians washing their hands of this story faster than Pontious Pilot ever did, and in that respect I think they have let the football community and the victims family down.

Our first minister is currently in New Zealand on a jolly paid for by the tax payer and lots of stories about his visit on the home page of the WAG website. I'm sure this tax payer funded holiday is vital to long term trade links and cultural exchange between both countries, then again it could just be a jolly to coincide with the Rughy World Cup. :? :?

No hint of little brother syndrome there I think. ;) ;) ;)

I have always liked Adam Brown's style and I thought he was treated badly over those comments made on CCMB a couple of years ago, which was lad's conversation and nothing else.

Again he has spoken out well and it would have been great if our elected politicians’ had pulled in the same direction by closing ranks with the rest of the Welsh Football Community which incredibly included Cardiff and Swansea fans joining forces to rebuke the fantasy stories of the English press.

At the end of the day if they want the well paid jobs and responsibility that goes with it then they have to be seen to do the job, otherwise us the electorate should consider voting for an alternative candidate at the next assembly elections.

I have a long memory and my AM will not be getting my vote that’s for sure, although I would urge the good people of Merthyr to vote for Adam if he stands.

Tony, it's up to you who you chose to vote for and you can base that decision on many factors.

"At the end of the day if they want the well paid jobs and responsibility that goes with it then they have to be seen to do the job"....... My point is that I don't see that these political representitives need to be seen to speak out on the papers' shameful editorial choices. I am sure if I was a family member, my focus would be closer to home and supporting the family.... not allowing polititians to make personal capital.

The expression is.....jumping on the bandwagon.

The only Welsh politician that I can think of who is a genuine football fan is Neil Kinnock. There may be others, but most of them are Welsh establishment egg-chasers

So one story which is actually current under police investigation is enough to make a decision of a person..? Unfortunately the vast majority of good work is only wrote about in the Merthyr Express and 'some' would say that because the MediaWales mainstream has a certain political viewpoint so the public outside Merthyr don't get to know the whole background.

Maybe these stories will help get a better understanding of the point Im trying to make:

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/south ... -23285785/

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/south ... -22497227/

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/south ... -23725747/

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/south ... -28267104/

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales ... -26886869/

and linked to that one is this:

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales ... -27610676/

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/local ... -28389951/

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/south ... -25304593/

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales ... -24235809/

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales ... -28853673/

and something which is close to this website:

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sports/gra ... -25458307/

and something which the public needed to be told no matter what, even if it did carry a suspension of 9 months and a loss of £7,200 in wages. However the report is slightly wrong as the final figure is actually £11.1 million and not £2.2 million as the figure £2.2 million is the calcutation of recent overcharging and not the overall overcharging figure:

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales ... -28853673/

and now the recent project to personally buy the post office within the Gurnos Ward. The final decision will be made tomorrow:

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/local ... -29337733/

So I ask anyone from outside of the Merthyr area, do you have councillors like this..? or don't you know your councillors names because of their lack of action..?

I rest my case.

I consider my first impression to be quite accurate!

But firstly, I should share with you that I have a low opinion of most coucillors at whatever level. Experience has taught me that the majority use office to further their own ambitions and boost their ego's. Not to mention the boosting of their bank balances by claiming attendance allowances et al for this contribution in changing our world. If they genuinely wanted to add value to the community, I would prefer to see them waive allowances and expenses.

And if you think I was minded to read all the bullshit you have catalogued above, think on. The one or two I did open, saw you trying to push in on ongoing subjects (surprise). Which is where I came in.....

Political gain should not have been a subject in Mikey's untimely demise.

And I do sincerely hope your case is rested.
