I think you are spot on, building a relationship is a long time thing in Malaysia and they may feel burned by Dave "It's less of the fact I don't have a Plan B more a face that I have no idea what i'm going to do in a week from now" Jones. They came in and he basically took a low level Premiership side to disaster.

So bring in a new guy, let him establish his methods and ethos allow him to build a team competitive, but not strictly top of the table. See how his eye for players and staff is. That way they can support him with a good basis for a team next year.
