A forum for all things Cardiff City

We have started well and a top 6 place is possible. Alot will depend on luck/injuries. The 3 teams that went up last season didnt suffer too badly in terms of injuries-dont think Norwich had any whilst the jacks only players for relatively short spells-had williams or sinclair been out for a significant time then i doubt they would have gone up.
LAst season we had the squad that should have gone up-however team spirit was clearly not great and nor was the work ethic from a fair few (JB9, JLS, Chops to name but a few). All 3 promoted teams had more hunger and desire than us. This season we appear to have that hunger, desire and passion.
I feel that we possibly need another central midfielder and wide player and maybe need to move Parkin on and bring in a more mobile target man.

if we can strenthen the squad with about 3 players, i think promotion is a possibility.

I think we CAN win the league with the players we've got now. However a few more additions would help out massively. Malky knows he needs 2 or 3 more players which he's stated before. I'm NOT saying we will go up but I'm saying we CAN.

Realistically, i think we need at least another four new players to really push on, but its also a case of balancing the accounts as well, & saying good bye to a few squad players,,is there any future for Parkin, Gyepes & Taiwo under MM???

Finaly Someone my age on here lol
Yeah mate if Malky and the players keep the hard work up we will because if we beat west ham we can beat anyone in this leauge

Tomorrow will be the big test..we rode our luck vs West Ham as they had more chances and we played a shit Bristol City team.
Brighton like to get the ball on the floor and attack same as us! Could be a game of Counter Attacks!
If we comfortably beat Brighton our confidence will be sky high!!

its definetly realistic, the team performance and attitude against bristol city was the best ive seen for ages, for me we need 2 more midfielders and a wide man preferably one with prem league experience, passion for the club and who probably wont make man citys 25 man squad

Tevez can play on the wing cant he?

Im not going to say, because its only been two games played, yes we have played well but its a long season.
I was enjoying it when there was not real expectation, please dont get carried away with these 2 games.

Promotion is possible, but we dont need many more players...1 or 2 more players will be ideal, you dont want to interupt the team to much. I say get Craig Bellamy and a tall mobile target man who can score goals and win everything in the air

Tomorrow will be a test indeed. Shame Kiss is out injured, thats just unfortunate
by any standards to have two defensive midfielders out at the same time. But
having said that, Darcy could come in, he's no mug, and funnily enough is now an
experienced Championship player.
With our CURRENT TEAM, I think we are as good as any side in the division, and
could beat anybody when we're on song.
With our current SQUAD... I think we'll struggle to maintain a challenge all season,
but with two or three more players i think we can challenge for automatic promotion

Your youthful optimism is admirable but its way to early to be talking about promotion .. lets just see what happens up til xmas at least then ask the same question .. 3 sunny days dont make a summer, it could piss down tomoro .. We just dont know
Tue Aug 16, 2011 4:34 pm
People will get carried away as thats what we do
For me top 6 always had to be the target and remains so
Tue Aug 16, 2011 4:57 pm
think we need another 2 or 3 signings to have a really good go, but i cant see looking at the sides in the league after west ham and leicester, there is no outstanding team and the playoffs can be a realistic target

We are not phoning Malky and the players up and discussing this at the blumming round table!
We/you/they are debating the topic as it is a forum, and why we are here, Nobody is putting pressure on anybody, and I dont think we'll find any of the management or players on here this term to be fair. Malky has already laid down some pretty strict socialising rules, and apparently leaking info from the inside is already at a minimal! (hence the quietness on Carl's updates IMO)
Debate as you will, I can't see anything harming anyone by discussing said subject - anyone thinking otherwise would be a bit naive to do so.

I think it was Miller (or maybe Witts) who said fans have already raised there expectations from Midtable to promotion after two games and laughed. Was on ICWales video clip
