All depends how much they would ask for him.

If its a good deal yeah, Good player. :ayatollah:

I think we've replaced him now, so I personally wouldn't take him back.

Re: Chris Burke

The reason he didn't resign was financial, it was city's choice to release him so don't see how that would change.

Re: Chris Burke

Mon Aug 15, 2011 10:48 pm

Wouldn't put him in the team any more, but could be good as a backup.

Re: Chris Burke

He was poor last season and the back end of the season before. I think his best days are behind him. We should move on.

That never happened - has been widely reported many times that it didn't happen.

He left for money, as most do these days.

I'd have him back in a second.

I spoke to him end of last season and he was happy to stay and wanted to but it's about money. Conway is prob on half his wages.

Burkes final delivery was never really the best.

Conway is faster, not as skilful, but fires that ball in from everywhere.
A nightmare to mark for a defender.

We got better than Burke now.

dont want him back

Re: Chris Burke

Burkey at his best was great to watch but it didn't happen often enough, particularly last season when he was quite poor. Even at his best his delivery was unpredictable.

With Conway we have a player who is stronger, fitter and whose delivery is top notch (high number of dangerous crosses into the box on Sunday). He may not be as tricky as Burkey but overall he will make a much more telling contribution :ayatollah:

I noticed Conway against Parma cos he was playing right in front of me.
As soon as he was getting the ball he was pinging it into the box, so the
Parma Centre Halves were bawling at the full back to close him down
quicker. So the guy flew across at Conway, Craig waited.. instead of
crossing it, he hung on til the guy was almost on top of him and just
left him for dead

Difficult to mark

Re: Chris Burke

I would have him back defo, but we would need to provide him with decent competition on the right, because he pretty much played all the time he was getting burnt out and was playing crap, but if he was getting a rest here n there he could probably awesome like he used to!

Re: Chris Burke

Conway is faster, stronger and he has a good football brain. Burkey was more skill 8-)

Re: Chris Burke

burkes end product was shocking, he couldnt strike a ball !!

He's not possessed of lightening pace i agree, But he's faster than Burke
and will get far more dangerous crosses into the box than Burke did. So
far he seems to be more likely to score too

Fair point. How ever Burkey was much more of a pain in the arse for defenders. :ayatollah:

As someone who used to play at Left-Back to a £50 a week standard  ...

Marking the tricky, skilful wingers was a pain. But if they lacked the pace to really
leave me for dead, I would generally keep on top of them. As long as they're doing
their tricks while i'm goalside.. let them play silly buggers

Faster, more direct lads who just whip the crosses in I found far more difficult
to cope with.

Just my opinion like :ayatollah:

Re: Chris Burke

why would brum want to sell him ? hes clearly in chris hughtons plans so i couldnt see him going anywhere.we do need a winger to give us more options as our squad is threadbare right now but i couldnt see burke doing an effective job for us to be honest,His lack of tackling and physical strength cost us big time last season
