we couldnt afford to at the time, thats why he went so cheaply

I think we capped the bidding at £5mil under the agreement with Man U that we could have him back straight away on loan. The rest is history as they say..

And Arsenal got him for £500k less by paying so much up front
We should have put some kind of bonus-sell on imo.
