Craig Brown backs Kenny to be huge success

I'm defo excited about this one. From the Echo:

The man who gave Kenny Miller his international debut believes Cardiff City are signing “the complete striker.”

Craig Brown was Scotland manager when he handed Miller his first senior start for his country in a friendly against Poland back in April 2001.

Miller has since gone on to establish himself as one of Scotland’s top marksmen and, at the age of 31, has 55 international appearances with 14 goals to his credit.

He captained his country for the first time in February against Northern Ireland in the Carling Nations Cup and marked the occasion by scoring the winner.

Miller was in the Welsh capital yesterday for a medical ahead of an expected £800,000 move from Turkish club Bursaspor.

Brown, who is currently boss at Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen and who has had a distinguished managerial career, rates Miller as one of the best goalscorers he has worked with.

And he insists he can have a big impact in the English second tier this season.

“With his ability I think he will be an absolutely terrific signing for Cardiff. In Kenny, they have basically got the complete striker,” said Brown.

“He is one of those players who, whichever club he goes to, he seems to score goals. He’s a very hard-working player.

“I’ve no doubts he’ll be a hit in the Championship. He was outstanding during his time at Wolves. Really, whichever level he’s been called upon to play at, he’s shown he can score goals.

“He’s a restless kind of player, his movement is quite excellent. He’s adaptable too. He can play up front alone or in a pair and he still carries the identical threat.

“His biggest asset really is the industry he has. He never stops moving, never stops running and chasing.

“He’s a superb finisher too. He favours his right foot, but he’s dangerous with either foot.”

After beginning his career at Hibernian, Miller arrived for the first of his two spells at Rangers in 2000.

After a season at Ibrox, he moved to Wolves then managed by former Cardiff boss Dave Jones.

Miller spent five years at Molineux, making 162 appearances and scoring 50 goals. The high point was when he helped Wolves into the Premiership via the play-off final in 2003.

After leaving Wolves in 2006, Miller became only the third player since World War II to have played for both of the Old Firm sides when he joined Celtic.
