STRIKER Joe Mason came through the youth ranks at Argyle and was given a one-year professional deal for his prolific scoring record at under-18 level.

The wiry Mase adapted brilliantly to training with the first-team squad and was given a shock debut by manager Paul Sturrock in a defeat to Sheffield United in December 2009.

He continued his progress under the guidance of Paul Mariner and was awarded a two-year contract extension in January 2010. Mase ended last season with three goals to his name and great hopes for the future. He has also represented the Republic of Ireland at youth level.

Carl, Aron Gunnarrson is also supposed to be having a medical tomorow. Have you also heard about this ?
I pretty confident the person involved with someone at the club wouldnt make it up

cant help but think that aswell as all these younsters being talented, we also need a little bit of quality and experience...


we already have a young striker in jarvis...

im not mocking the signings i really pleased....

but think we do need already proven player in my opinion..

Perhaps Cardiff City have at last learnt the lesson of previous Liverpool regiemes who scourred the lower divisions for John Toshack, Kevin Kegan, Ian Rush and many more. They bought lots of young players, some did exceptionally well and others didn't make it. But as they didn't cost a fortune it was affordable.

So let's do the same, buy four youngsters at a quarter of a million each. If two of them develop into players worth a million plus then the club has done well. Better than buying expensive older players who lose their resale value.
