Jay Bothroyd argues with Cardiff fans on Twitter
FORMER Cardiff City striker Jay Bothroyd was engaged in a war of words with a section of Bluebirds fans on Twitter last night.

The angry exchanges began when Bothroyd declared his surprise at assistant manager Terry Burton being placed on gardening leave following Malky Mackay's arrival at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Bothroyd tweeted: "Can't believe ccfc has put Terry burton on gardening leave he is one of the best coaches in the league if not the best!".

Other Cardiff fans criticised the England striker, saying he had "lost the respect" of supporters.

And Bothroyd then hit back with a series of tweets, saying: "Haha Cardiff fans have short memory ... Our team wasn't good enough as a whole thats honest and that's why we didn't gain promotion ."

I guess that Bothroyd and/or his agent have been told to "Feck Off" by the Malaysians (and maybe MM) and in the absence of anyone else prepared to pay good money for him to sit on his arse for half a match whilst the world (or game at least ) goes on around him, has become embittered and is frustratedly looking for an avenue to vent his anger at NOT being worth the £50k a week he and his agent THOUGHT they were worth

I liked Jay and thought he could do a bloody good job when he could (excuse the pun ) be arsed....

The England game (he played very well when he came on in fairness) certainly turned his head and he was never the same for us again

I don't usually knock the players on here BUT on this occasion:

Oi, Jay!! Wake up and smell the coffee!! Premiership teams do their homework BEFORE they buy and BEFORE they shell out the real money. Occasionally, they'll get one wrong. However, in the face of such glaring evidence that you are a flawed talent due to your inner belief that the world revolves around you, they are NOT prepare to take the chance at the price you and your agent have put on your head

You could always give Joe a call and go to Celtic. Big money and only four games a season to earn it in (although I suppose there's always the worry that they won't be the games you turn up for, eh?? ) plus, of course, the opportunity to play in Europe. On the positive side I suppose you'd be guaranteed to double your 'England Cap' tally if you can stay fit, so that'd be, erm, TWO games in Europe making six serious games per season!!

Pity you had to do the Tweeter thing, Jay. Most people have learned by now that it will bite you in the arse....and yours must be painful enough from the bruising it took on the hard CCS pitch during the season just gone

Dave Jones made you into a much better player on your day (and somewhat more consistent despite your erratic form) and the supporters took to you. Just a pity you couldn't be just a little more contrite and ignored the (limited despite how it appears on here and other MB's) knockers, as MOST would have liked you back for another go under a manager who would take no prisoners

your right one mistake on the pitch and our fans are on his back, but he should be professional enough to get over it, other players do, but then they are not big time charlies.

It wasnt just one mistake, he didnt turn up for the last few games of the season when we needed him and since his england cap he became a prima dona... We are entitled to show our disappointment in failing to gain promotion. Granted he wasn't the only player to let us down but he's got a f*cking cheek talking about us on twitter and in the media. f**k off jay

Mate relax, it's a sad little non-story the Echo are using to fill pages.

He can say what he wants but the reality is he failed with us. He'll never escape that. He also gained an England cap, through a combination of events, some lucky, some through hard work. The difference is marked and can be divided by November.
