Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay is ready to follow up his signing of 26-year-old Dundee United winger Craig Conway by making a £2million move for striker David Goodwillie.
Rangers made an approach on Monday to ask for a valuation of Goodwillie, but the Scottish champions' owner Craig Whyte does not think the triple Young Player of the Year winner is worth United's asking price.

The 22-year-old hit 19 goals last season, winning his first Scotland cap in November.

Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay looks set to beat Scottish giants Rangers to another Dundee United player this weekend.
After beating the Gers for the signature of Craig Conway this week, Mackay is holding talks with Dundee United's David Goodwillie after Rangers boss Ally McCoist had been first to make an enquiry for the £2m rated striker.
The Bluebirds boss was impressed by Goodwillie while visiting Tannadice last season to run the rule over Conway.
The 22-year-old netted 19 times for United last season and earned his first Scotland cap against the Faroe Islands in November 2010.
Mackay, who is back at his desk after a family holiday in Naples, must work fast to fill the void left by 12 players who departed the club at the end of last term.
