too many doing degrees not really valued like art
better to do a science or something academic than vocational. a vocational trade is best learnt on the job, i.e. apprenticeship.
also, a 2:2 is crap, well not crap, but not that good.
a 1st or a 2:1 at least is what you should be aiming for.

I left school at 18 to start work and I have absolutely no regrets about not going to university.

I agree mate.
You have good courses like (most of these are in the top 10 USA/UK highest paid degrees)
medicine
computer science
software engineering
chemical engineering
accounting
mechanical/electrical engineering
civil engineering
architecture
finance and banking
marketing/management/research
Law
then you have your degrees that are valued amongst a lot of professions depending on what grade
maths
biology
physics
chemistry
history
then you have people doing courses like
media studies
economics
art
humanities
travel and tourism *excuse for student exchange, free holiday, go on the razz*
celebrity journalism
film studies
weaving studies
surf studies
basically, this guy is right
http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/201 ... se-degrees
we should be investing in serious degrees that will help discover new things such as new technologies, cures for diseases and so on.
The thing is, whilst stupid degrees still exist people will take them up to take the student loans and grants and use it as a free ride. im going to uni to learn, get a good degree, and get out of this country.
