Sorry but good player or not I don't want this type of player at our club. I wouldn't pay a pennt for this guy until he is cleared of all charges and even then I wouldn't be that keen as the bright lights of Cardiff city centre will be an attraction for him.

you don't prove your innocence. you are presumed innocent. you have to be found guilty - until such time as that has happened, the player is innocent of all charges.

imo i think the club should wait for the court to make a descion on whether he's guilty or not. This would not be the first time a footballer has been occused of rape when in fact nothing happened. ( although a few are bound to sadly be true) As for the assult charge, that was most probably a result of a night out with friends ( carnt say for sure ) so as someone said on the other board a move to cardiff would be good for him and mm i get the feeling will keep disipline at the club.

So on balance if we have got a chance i think we should sign him ASAP

So you'd pay 2m based upon that. No doubt Dundee United would be good enough to refund the money if we provide the receipt should he be jailed?

Until he's convicted he's of course innocent. But when there's a trail hanging over his head where there's the prospect of lengthy jail time, it's stupid to pay money for him until that situation is resolved. Plus of course, should we sign him and he then gets convicted it's a massive, massive PR problem for the club.

If the charges were very serious, I think he would have been locked up by now, and the Scotish courts would have fast tracked the case, due to the nature of how serious the case is. It could well be, they were both drunk, and the girl woke up next morning saying it was rape? who knows. But its something the law enforcement in Scotland not taking serious, lack of evidence?

Difference with Marlon King was, the evidence was pretty much against him, where has Goodwillie is innocent till proven guilty. If he does sign, I hope no one pre-judges him for something he did, similar to what happened with Dave Jones, and every rival support would hurl abuse at him.
