They cant afford to pay back the loans they already have. Should they be given more money.

This will all end in tears for sure, the only question must be, is when does the crying begin?

Right now I think France & Germany will do whatever they can to keep Greece from defaulting on it's loans but I also think that the Greek people will not accept these austerity measures so it's a sort of creeping death.

Eventually Greece will default it will leave the euro and return to a devauled Dracma and start rebuilding this will cascade and Portugal and possibly Ireland and Italy will follow which will see the French and German domination of the eurozone weaken dramatically.

With French and German banks being owed about $100bn any Greek default will have a big impact on both the French and German economy so both governments will need to bail out their banks like Labour did here.

Shit and fan comes to mind. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Last night the greek government just won the vote to stay in power
That means they will get another ten billion loan from the EU as the Germans and French are desperate to safeguard the
Euro Project.

I see the inevitable wil be happening in the next year or so -- Greece will either have a new government or the current one will renage on it sausterity measures and they will vote to leave the EU and go back to the Drachma. They will be effectively bankrupt and never pay back the stupid loans they have taken.

Greece will then be back to where it was in the 80s. They will not have the gifts from the EU and will have to live in teh real world. They will however be able to de value the Drachma so that tourism and exports will flourish. We may be back in the situation where we can get a pint in Greece for 30p .

The Germans French and to a lesser extent teh UK will then lose billions as the banks who have been sucked in collapse--
This will lead to teh collapse of the euro as it stands as Portugal Italy and Spain teeter towards the same outcome.

My guess is that this will lead to a two tierd Euro zone. The southern countries will either go back to their Pasetas etc or have a latino euro and the Germans French Dutch keep their own Euro.

The project of Euristan is dead in the water ---- The Frankfurt school of socialism forgot to factor in that southern Europeans dont have the same work ethic as the North.

The sooner we get out of Europe all together the better.

The smart move for the UK would be to take up a Swiss position where we extract the trade benefits and step aside from the costs and excessive interference of the EU. Europe does some good things, but the trick would be to try and extract these whilst avoiding the negatives.

It would be very positive to see British waters fished sensibly under UK management rather than plundered as they are now.

Kalamaki this year although about 12 years we did try Laganas but found that a little bit loud for our liking.

But Kalamaki is perfect for us lovely beach and good tavernas for the evening all we need now is to get the dracma back and Mythos a 30p a bottle.
