And 3 strikers at least.

I really think Bertrand would do a great job, seen him playing for the England U21's. Young and got a lot of fight in him Also agree with your CM's

Eanrnshaw, Bothroyd, Gabbidon on free transfers. He was after scottish wingers Conway and Forsyth at Watford. Bellamy, Frimpong and Bertrand or the Man City one (Cunningham?) on loan. Get in Don Cowie and his job is almost done and he can get back to his holidays. Plus he won't have spent much so still got a couple of quid for the last few positions.

He puts a great cross in.. this allows Whitss or whoever the LM may be to get in or around the box!

David Jones may be a good shout and I will have to go away and look at Hogg and Bennett. However, Collison would be at least £3m to buy and wouldn't get loaned to us, he is exactly the type of player West Ham will want to keep, highly rated first teamer with low wages. Also Driver is wanted by too many premiership clubs to end up at Cardiff imo.

Lee Martin is a wierd one, bought for about £1.5m by roy Keane but then on loan to Charlton all last season. Would have thought he would easily get into a Championship first team and maybe Jewell will have him as part of his first team plans. If he is available on loan would be a good option but we don't want to get too many loan players again and end up not being able to strenghten when we have injuries.

We need at least 3 new strikers and at least 5 new midfielders, plus 3 new defenders, but we will have to get rid of Gyepes and Keinan (in my opinion) first who have shown their limitations and aren't good enough to be in a promotion challenging team. I would keep Darcy because he is a local boy and can play anywhere across the back 4. My ideal; squad would look something like this:

Goalkeepers - Heaton, Marshall

Defenders: Hudson, Gerrard, Blake, McNaughton, Quinn

Defenders out: Gyepes, Keinan (if we can get a good price for him)

Defenders in:
Left back - Ryan Bertrand/Ritchie De Laet on loan or Marek Cech on a free
Centre back - Matthew Upson, Steven Caldwell or Ibrahima Sonko on a free
Right back - Neil Eardley on a free or Kyle Naughton on loan

Midfielders: Whittingham, McPhail, Wildig, Farah...can't think of anyone else right now!

Midfielders out: Nobody, we are short enough as it is!

Midfielders in: Nigel Reo Coker (long shot I know), Boudewijn Zenden, David Jones, Aron Gunnarsson, Kazenga Lua Lua (all frees last time I checked although I could be wrong), would like Mackay to go back to Watford for Sorvell too!

Strikers: Parkin, Jarvis

Strikers out - Nobody unless we can get a good price for Parkin, I think Parkin is the type of player who needs regular games to be at his best, and he isn't going to get regular games if we're putting together a team to challenge for promotion.

Strikers in: Benjani, Diomansy Kamara (frees), Leon Best, Darius Henderson, Bellamy

Yeah IMO he's above average defender for the championship he also had a spell at Reading a few years ago, which he defended quite well in
