I don't think Bothroyd himself is to blame for the touting to many other clubs; agents like Sky Andrew are bound to be getting about everywhere.

I'd love to see Jay back, I've briefly met him a few times comming back from away trips and he's always had time to have a chat with us fans no matter how pissed we were, a really decent bloke. As you rightly point out though he needs a good manger to keep him focused, Jones seemed to have cracked that for a while but it did seem go the shape of the pear towards the end of last season, well since Christmas I think.

Annis, there isn't many of last seasons team I'd want back, time to move on, and of all of those players Jay probably had me putting my head in my hands the most, he drove me mad for almost every single game post England cap.

But that being said....he has natural talent, and perhaps MM could make the most of that, so to answer your question, yes I'd take him back...

Yes only lack of motivation and discipline towards the end caused him to go off the rails. At the time he was good enough to play for England unfortunately it went downhill from there and where else could you buy an international of such quality. If 13-14k makes him one of the top payed players at the club that only recognises his significance in the last few years. Would love to have a younger striker similar to James Vaughan who would be in direct competition with Jay and really push him to need to be at his best each game. Jay upfront with someone like Bellamy or Earnshaw would be awesome. Would be quite happy if new manager goes in a different direction but very difficult to guarantee a 30-40 goal partnership, would feel more confident with names like Jay, Bellamy and Earnshaw. Even names like Le Fondre, Nugent, Kamara, Benjani or Roberts wouldn't give me as much confidence but may produce better results however it's a gamble.

For me this year will be all about our midfield and whether it can provide more protection to the defence than last season while providing as many goalscoring opportunities.

Even though he hurt us with his performances after his England call up (excluding the QPR game) i dont think we can turn down quality like that plus he knows the club inside out and Malky wont put up with his childish shit like DJ did...

I personally would have Jay back, talented player on his day, when his mind is right and when he stays on his feet. But Im sure i read somewhere that Malky doesnt do egos when he builds a TEAM.
