i would accept 100k less if i could spend that amount of time on the golf course and get my handicap down by 10 shots.

Mine would be to fully research the role.
Which would mean looking at the new owners as being successful businessmen. The club having debts. Realising owners having been bitten previously, such a figure would be unrealistic.
No, I'd pitch myself at a level that wouldn't price myself out of the role. But that salary negotiation would occur after I'd researched and interviewed.
