No. Maradona and Zidane were better players for me.
But Messi is special, no doubt.

I cant believe he is only 23
Sat May 28, 2011 8:49 pm
Thats impossible to say but I am of an old enough age to have seen many great players such as, Pele,Di Stefano, Garincha, Maradona, Cruyff, Best, Beckenbauer, Puskas and our very own Leo Fortune West
but all Joking aside Messi is well on his way to being a great but has many years in front of him yet.

In terms of ability he is, but how maradona inspired a poor napoli team to 2 serie a titles and a average argie team to 86 world cup was special, as a whole maradona best ever

he still only a young player really so when he hits is peak 28 yrs old he could well be best player ever seen to kick a ball. which is scary thought as he prob best in the world now ...........
Sat May 28, 2011 9:08 pm
definitely
Sat May 28, 2011 9:18 pm
toss up between Pele & Maradonna-but at only 23 Messi has plenty of time to surpass them.
Sat May 28, 2011 9:22 pm
No
Sat May 28, 2011 9:27 pm
he's defo in the top 5 IMO
Sat May 28, 2011 9:29 pm
He's quality, but George Best is the best ever. Just look on you tube.
Sat May 28, 2011 9:42 pm
Personally I think he is. He gets kicked to buggery but doesn't fall over like a pansy.
Much much better than George Best, in my very humble opinion
Sat May 28, 2011 9:59 pm
No for me Eddie Johnson is the best player EVER

Me too. But after last night, i cant continue to deny that hes the best in the world. Can you imagine him and Ronaldo.in the same team??
Ronaldo has had the best season of his career so far (for personal goals as oppossed to tropheys won) yet he doesnt even get a mention. Because Messi is just THAT good.

yes easily
players today, especially foreigners are more conditioned in terms of fitness and diet whereas in the past more players would be drinking loads.
more players today are athletes, look at Micah Richards for example.
there is no player that even comes close to him IMO and the fact he had health problems when he was younger and had treatment to overcome those problems as well as play football to the level he is currently, it's just unbelievable.

By the time Messi retires from football - He will be the best ever player to have graced our planet! FACT
He has in the last two seasons scored 100 goals! (47) and (53) !
Is 22 years old and has a massive career still ahead of him.
Suprisingly though - His goal last night was his first (of many) to be scored in England!!!
Sun May 29, 2011 2:39 pm
Still Maradona for me but I believe by the time Messi retires he will be regarded as the best ever, has plenty of seasons to go yet.

Messi WILL be the greatest footballer ever, at the moment he is fast becoming the best, stunning example of how a professional footballer should be, he takes a hard tackle and gets straight back up, his reading of the game is second to none, and he passes world class players with ease
And he is still only 23
