and then got promoted - Would have looked very silly on our part by gaining promotion and then sacking our manager!! 
I would take a guess and say this is why we didn't give DJ notice back last summer, He promised a top 2 finish if we followed his plans, and he failed to deliver, but his promise and backing would have probably have been down to the trust the malaysians had in Jones.
How wrong were they..... They might as well get shot asap now! as it will only cost them £800,000 6 months down the line when Jones wins manager of the month in October (as per the last 2 years) and then go on his long game run without a win through November!
