BUCKET COLLECTION RAISES £1207.14 FOR KEENOR APPEAL

Press release from the Keenor appeal

Despite the massive disappointment of City’s Play-Off defeat against Reading there was at least good news for the Fred Keenor Statue Fund.

For a bucket collection before the Reading game raised £1,207 for the appeal which has now topped the £50,000 mark, including the £15,000 pledged by Cardiff council.

Statue Fund project manager David Craig said: “This was a fantastic effort. We’d like to thank most sincerely the seven volunteers who rattled buckets for us on the night. It is difficult for many people to help out on evening games due to work commitments so we really appreciate it.

“Bluebirds fans are always so generous and full of goodwill for what we are trying to achieve which is the statue of Fred outside the ground. We had donations ranging from a few pence from little children, showing that every little penny counts, to a £20 note – fantastic.

“The amount raised brought a smile to our faces despite the huge disappointment on the night. I’d also like to thank Cardiff City management once again for their continuing support for the appeal.

“The collection took us over the £50,000 mark as we move towards the £85,000 target,” added David.

• Donations to the appeal fund can be made through the Co-operative Bank:

Account name: - Fred Keenor Statue Fund or FKSF
Account no 65392368
Sort Code 08-92-99

Cheques can also be sent c/o CCST to PO Box 4254, Cardiff, CF14 8FD. Please add the words "Fred Keenor Appeal" on the top of the envelope.

Why not just ask each of the players to put a grand in each as an apology for their pathetic displays towards the end of the season.

Times are tough, how are they supposed to go out on the piss this week if they donate a grand?
