Where do we go from here??

It's been mentioned on here a few times since yesterday that DJ is one of the worst managers we've ever had, how short are people's memories? DJ took over a average squad and turned into a promotion contending team over 6 years, in that time he's had to deal with transfer embargo's, very little funding and players sold without his consent. Yet we improved every season with DJ. People forget that he brought the likes of Roger Johnson, Ross McCormack, Kevin McNaughton, Michael Chopra, Chris Burke and Jay Bothroyd for next to nothing if not free. They have all turned out to be key players, some have moved on for big money.

We've improved our league position every season, Play-off final last year, FA Cup Final in 2008.....that's not a bad record.

Now, DJ this season I admit hasn't delivered but he's not the only reason we didn't gain promotion. Some of the players need to look at themselves, not enough effort and no pride wearing the famous blue shirt. DJ this year brought in too many loan players and the side was never settled, the loan players are to be brought in to help a squad but our squad was made up of loan players.
Watching City since about November it seemed as if there was no team spirit or cohesion, when things got difficult the team seemed to look to Bellamy for the answers, that's not the answer. As much as it pains me to say it Swansea have a great team ethos, they work for each other and they all know their role within the team, whereas we haven't and it has caught up with us.

It is time for a change at City, a new manager to be brought in to fresh things up, new ideas and tactics, not only a new manager but the staff to go with it. DJ has taken this team as far as he can and things have gone stale, we need a manager to take us to the next level, but DJ can walk away with his head held high.

Our squad next season needs to be made of players that we have signed or brought through the ranks with the help of a few loan players, not 6/7 loan players. Players such as Naylor and Rae should go, Gerrard should be brought back in after a decent season with Hull. Gerrard and Kienen could be a decent partnership at centre back, with McNaughton and Quinn as full backs makes a half decent defence.
It's difficult to say just yet how much money we'll have to spend in the transfer window but early signs show that it won't be a open cheque, at the end of the day the Malaysians will want to see money coming back in the club before they continue to spend, spend, spend. That's business. It may take a while to build a squad good enough, it may happen straight away, time will tell.

Should be interesting to see what happens over the next few weeks.
