The Wembley Factor

All the pundits seem to agree that with the squad that we have this year, we should have been a shoo in for an automatic spot. At times during the season we seemed to be head & shoulders better than other teams. YET here we are again stumbling in sight of the finishing line.

One cause that never seems to crop up as a reason for the our late season demise is the Wembley factor.

Most players of Championship level never get to play on Wembley's hallowed turf except if they make it to the play offs. As most of the squad probably realize that they are just not good enough for the Premiership, a playoff final at Wembley will be the highlight of their playing careers. I just wonder if this a psychological issue, because nothing else can possibly explain why they end up playing like crap at the most important time of the season.

The fact they ( the players) not all of them were drinking the night before a very important game could have something to do with it
