My Nan has been a fan for 83 years.

This is what was in the echo yesterday about her. MARY Thomas is unique among Cardiff City fans, having attended matches before she was even born! The 1927 FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium, when the Bluebirds beat Arsenal, was among her first games –and today, 84 years later, Mary is cheering her team on in their Premier League dream. “My mum, Beatrice Dimmick, went to the FA Cup Final a couple of months before I was born,” said Mary, 83, who is originally from Bedwas and now lives in the caerphilly area. “So I was there at Wembley and the following season, 1927-28, I was taken along to Ninian Park matches as a babe in arms. “It was a family thing and I grew up with it. Now, all this time later, I would love to see Cardiff City earn promotion to the Premier League. I was dreading the match against Queens Park Rangers, but we still have a real chance and it will be fantastic if they are promoted. “There are often a few ‘ifs’ with Cardiff City, but hopefully this time they can go up. “I’ve been pleased this season. The team has improved every season since Dave Jones came in as manager and this is his best.” Mary’s grandparents, William and Evelyn Goodland, were big Cardiff City fans. “I can remember having a photograph taken sitting on my grandfather’s shoulders when I was really young,” she said. “It was taken on the Bob Bank. It’s been sucha big part of my life. My son, Alan, was born in May and attended his first match in the September. He still comes to the games. My grandsons watched their first Bluebirds matches when they were small and still come. “Until five years ago I went to all away matches as well, but now I make sure I watch all the home games
