ATTENTION - FACEBOOK SECURITY VUNERABILITY!

Tue Apr 12, 2011 3:05 pm

ATTENTION!!!

FB has automatically set itself to the Non-Secure browsing setting! While on FB, look at your URL address (the very top box on your screen.) If u see "http:" instead of "https:" then u DO NOT have a secure session & can be hacked quite easily. Go to Account - Account Settings - Account Security - click Change. Check the box labelled "......Secure Browsing" - Click Save.

Mine was changing back to the http all the time but I logged out and reset and holding its own now on https, loads of viruses in FB lately. Someone is either really pissed off with FB or bored stupid.

I've done it. Facebook is having so many issues with security recently. I've been tempted to delete it except I use it for social stuff like our 11 a side and 5 a side football.

https just encrypts all your data as it's sent over the internet, whereas http is unencrypted. I personally wouldn't bother encrypting Facebook, putting enough data on Facebook that someone can use in a malicious way is a bigger problem in my opinion. Keep it to the minimum and you'll be fine, i.e. don't put your name, address, phone number, email address, place of work, etc on there!

It's a secure web page, meaning the chances of things happening without your know-how or say-so are very limited (unless your computer is naffed).

The reason people should switch it to secure is to stop your Facebook being fiddled with without your say. As stated, if you switch to a secure connection, it'll say when you're being redirected to a non-secure connection (required to alter your Facebook details without you knowing), and also required for your account to spam other accounts.

whilst we're on the subject... for some reason my email hotmail account has been blocked, which I really need to get on ASAP. this is what comes up -

Your account has been temporarily blocked
Why are you seeing this?
Someone may have used your account to send out a lot of junk messages or done something else that violates the Windows Live Terms of Service.
What do you need to do?
We'll send a verification code to your mobile phone. All you need is a phone that can receive text messages. After you enter the code, you can sign in.

Ive put my phone number in but no basteward text

I don't trust Hotmail anymore, too much spam/possible viruses.

Does it come up in a pop-up, or does it redirect you to a different webpage? If it redirects you, whats the URL? Is it still part of the hotmail website?

It's still on a https//live site. I need to book flight tickets and holiday tickets off. It's very frustrating. Put my mob number in countless times and no text recieved!

And yes the amount of spam is a joke. Just got a spam inviting me to a 'bear orgy'?? Wtf is that??

Is there any other, more secure sites I could get an email address from?
