Why is Torres so shite?

Ok, I know it's got nothing to do with City(until we play against him next year! 
). But watching the Chelski/United game last night got me thinking, what is going on with Torres.
He has looked rubbish for ages. First it was injury before the World Cup. Then playing half fit at the World Cup. Then playing for Roy Hodgson at Liverpool. Then still lacking sharpness. Now he's at Chelsea, surrounded by quality players and playing all the time he still looks shit!.
He is clearly a brilliant player(from memory!) so what is going on?
