A Car driver without a Driving License and No Insurance ? He gets £100 Fine and £15 Costs and 6pts (in Tonights Echo).

A Car Driver Drink Driving ? He gets a 12 month Ban and £525 Fine.

A Nonce from London who down loads children's porn and sells it on ? He gets a Suspended Sentence .

A Cardiff City Football Fan who jumps up and down at a like minded Chelsea Fan, and No one is injured or complains ? He gets 8 to 18 Months in Prison and 6 to 10 years Football Ban and has to hand his Passport in every time Wales play and sign at the Police station.

Yes, Annis, you make a great point here....unbalanced sentencing indeed!!

A lot can depend on the 'where' the Court is' or even 'what the political will' at that time is'

It's dreadful and it is morally corrupt....and they wonder why people have no faith in 'the system' eh??

For personal reasons (I was left for dead by a drink driver in a hit and run many years ago) anyone who KNOWINGLY drinks and drives should have their licence revoked FOREVER....

Hanging would be TOO GOOD for the child pornographer....they should be jailed and NEVER released. Or better still, send them to The Liberty Stadium where they could rot in a living Hell!!!!

In my view anyone driving without a licence or insurance should get a hefty fine (more than the £100 you mention) forced to attend and pass a driving test within a set period of say 6 months and have the 6pts on their licence so they have to drive carefully or risk running up more points and losing the licence again. Anyone convicted a 2nd time should be fined even more and any 3rd time offender jailed as they are obviously too stupid or cocky to learn.

My view on drink drivers is coloured by the fact that a close friend of mine had his father killed by a drunk driver. The idiots who do it don`t realise or care that they are in control of a lethal weapon , which is what a car is in the wrong hands. They should be fined heavily and have a 12 month ban for first offence if only slightly over the limit and jailed if well over the limit or for a second offence.

As a father and grandfather , I believe anyone involved in any offence against children should be jailed and anyone involved in physical/sexual abuse against children should be chemically castrated.

As for your football fan example , this debate has revealed extreme views on both sides. Personally , I think many of the sentences handed out were very harsh for some of the more minor offences. Perhaps some community service and a shorter banning order period would be more appropriate. For those that say all they did was jump up and down , maybe a compulsory attendance at Morris Dancing lessons would make them realise how silly they look :D .For second or serial offenders though , aren`t jail sentences appropriate though as they are well aware of how hard (rightly or wrongly)the law is cracking down on hooliganism but haven`t learnt the lesson and still offend?

Keith,
Interesting, but surely then if a football fan should go to prison if he does it again, then a drink driver or without a license or insurance should as well, as he has then not learnt his lesson ?

I did say a drunk driver should go to jail for a second offence. I also said they should for a first offence if well over the limit.

The non-insured should be made to pay heav ily (financially) for not driving like the rest of us with insurance and a licence and made to get those documents. If they don`t after a 2nd warning and fine , then jail them. I should have added that if they cause injury to anyone while uninsured , then they should be punished more heavily (probably jail if its a serious injury as its the same argument as the drunk driver being in charge of a lethal weapon).

Ex-missus (still friends) got hit by an unissured driver a feww weeks back on the way to work. She got out of the car, and only recently bought it, told the man who hit her that she wanted his details, he turned around and said, and I quote "No point love, don't have any insurence"... And theres f**k all she could do about it because it turned out he didn't have an perminant address so she couldn't chase it up.

Must have been from Glyncorrwg then :o All insured up the cape
