only time will tell on if he is to be a good addition to the squad
hopefully DJ has got it right at this crucial time of the season :ayatollah:

Good choice IMO, the QPR fan suggested him the other day and I agreed. Very good shot stopper

Don't know much about him. Paul Robinson's understudy so must be decent. What about Kirkland, thought it was only a virus?

So good, neither Leeds nor Orient kept a clean sheet with him on loan this season. 16 league games the last 5 seasons - 9 of them this season.

Not exactly inspiring of confidence, even if he only plays 1 game.

I dont think its fair to judge his performances unless you have seen him play. We couldnt keep a clean sheet for months and Heaton was in some of the best form of his life. He has always been a number 2 but always looked decent enough when ive seen him and was pretty solid for Wales.

Re: JASON BROWN

I well remember him conceding 5 for Gillingham against us in the days where we weren't particularly good. Flapping at everything.

Brown solid for Wales? Was he solid in his mighty 2 appearances for Wales? Can't find the name of the other but one of them was the might that is Trinidad and Tobago. In the 2005/6 season.

The guy, aside from 5 years with Gillingham ( at div 1/2 level ) has barely played over the last 5 season. 16 matches, an average of 3 a season? Even worse when you consider 9 occured this season!

We're at a crucial, crunch time of the season. Anybody, short term, with experience would benefit us far, far more.

Brown has been content to sit on his arse at Blackburn picking up a nice pay packet, handed to him by his good mate Hughes. Subsequent managers, well, a nice firm no 2/3 keeper in the squad, lacking the drive to get off his arse and demand a tranfser to get playing time.

Just what we need.

nerd, by your posts i guess your not happy with this signing

what the problem was for DJ was to get a keeper that would play second fiddle to heaton.

if heaton was shit, it would have been easier to get a good keeper, but cuz DJ cant give a keeper a regular first team spot. he found it hard to attract a quality keeper

Agree on the second fiddle bit, but Roy Carroll was one possible; short term deal, vast experience.

2 games for full national team and 7 for U21's and yes he was solid.

Its Wednesday night now, we have a game Saturday, clearly he is not DJ's first choice and we dont know how many other keepers he has approached but he had to get someone in.

Harsh to say he is happy to pick up a pay packet, the same happens at a lot of clubs with a lot of keepers.

Carrol would have been a better options but I do find it strange that he wants to come back into football but yet cant find ANY club. Something about it dont add up for me

I dare say I could look solid vs Trindad and Tobago.

DJ, in the past, has gone without a keeper - risky, sure, but he's done it in the past - depends upon Santiagos finger more than anything. We still had time to get a better keeper in during the emergency loan window; not sure, but from memory, even outside that you can get a keeper in due to the specialist position. A rush to get someone, anyone in, indicates Heaton's injury may be more serious than is being let on.

And if so, are you utterly 100% confident Brown can do the job?

Lots of keepers also leave clubs to play football. Brown chose to sit on his arse at Blackburn, be a Prem footballer without playing, get a nice pay packet for doing so. That shows an utter lack of ambition.

Reputation, had made the odd mistake, went to Denmark so some managers may adopt the "out of sight, out of mind" approach. More likely he'll get offers in summer.

Don't understand people that berate a player before he's even kicked a ball for us give him a chance ffs

Do you think, in a crucial part of the situation, it's wise to bring in someone who may well play in a crucial position omeone who has barely played over the last 5 season?

Yes/No?

I'd love it if he plays, turns out to be the next Southall, but let's get realistic here.

Aye apart from the last minute or so with that dreadful song :P

I think this is a good signing Kirkland would have been immense but this is a solid signing.

But still, no clubs at all, seems odd.
Either he still thinks he is man-u quality and asking big bucks or still has problems id guess.

Thought you were suggesting Southall then when I glanced over it

I would have no problem going without a keeper on the bench if Heaton was fully fit but its risky when he is doubtful

I'd agree it's risky if Heaton's injury is giving a signifcant risk of missing games... but... we've now committed to a keeper. That's it, search now over. And I remain to be convinced Brown is good enough or more importantly experienced enough for our needs.
