I think you can only watch online from bbc if you're in the UK

Thats correct, can't watch live bbc outside the UK, SKY Player won't work either and with the BBC they are hot on other sites streaming their programmes which means they are often shutdown.

For those of us in Denmark (I know of at least two apart from myself) its live on Canal 9 which is probably available in Sweden as well.
