players fighting for places

i feel that we never have players fighting to get back in the team,once dropped you never see a change until an injury arises,so my question is are the players not ambitious or is it down to management

the problem is that players will see no point in trainning hard to get back in the team

to get on the treatment table

but if they were playing an the reserves then they would have a chance to prove themselves I really do not understand why we do not have a reserves all the top teams have
